Sherlen "Sherry" Rae Trafton Zimmerman, passed away at home on Sept. 15. Sherry was born in Miles City, MT to Helen (Holmlund) and Sherman Trafton on July 26, 1944.
Sherry was part of the first graduating class of Billings West High School. She spent her freshman year at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., returning to Billings to complete her education degree at Eastern Montana College. She met her match in Dwayne Zimmerman while they were both working for Midland Implement. They were married in June 1967, and had three children.
Family was important. Sherry always made sure to call each one of her seven siblings on their birthdays and loved keeping in touch with her relatives and friends. Holidays were spent with a lot of family around one big table because she wanted everyone to be together.
Volunteering was close to Sherry’s heart and she dedicated herself to many different organizations. She spent time at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, cofounded the Parents of Preemies at St.Vincent’s, and supported the March of Dimes. She instilled these values into her children and grandchildren who have followed her example.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Dwayne Zimmerman; her children, Traci Zimmerman, Julie Zimmerman and Craig (Tara) Zimmerman; her three grandchildren, Vance Jacobs, Vanessa Jacobs and Austin Zimmerman and all of her siblings, their children, grandchildren and her extended family.
Sherry is loved by many and will be missed by all that knew her. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m. at Cremation Funeral Gallery. Memorials may be given to any of the charities she supported: Ronald McDonald House, March of Dimes or Children’s Hospital Colorado in Denver.
Arrangements are by Cremation and Funeral Gallery. For the full obituary and to send Condolences please visit www.cfgbillings.com through “Our Families.”
