I was born Mar. 3, 1891, at Fort Keogh to Hugh and Nellie McGuire. They came from Minnesota in 1878, and went to Yellowstone Park and stayed 61/2 years. They moved to Miles City in 1885 and lived for sometime at Fort Keogh. My father hunted buffalo with Bill Stone north of Miles City in the late 80's. They had six children.
In 1906 I worked on location survey for the Milwaukee Railroad when they were building the railroad. Later I was the second call boy after they completed the road. In 1919 1 went into train service as a conductor.
I married Mary DeSocio on Oct. 5. 1919, in Vananda, Mont. Mary's parents are pioneers, too; they came to Forsyth in 1889 and went into business there. We have one son Jack Jr., married to Gayle Murphy and living in Seattle, Wash.
I retired in 1958 and spend my spare time fishing.
