Ralph Emil Bickle was born June 28, 1900, in Kansas to Ben and Mollie Bickle. They came to Montana in 1903 by Northern Pacific Railroad and landed at Terry, Mont. They homesteaded about 20 miles below Powderville. Hockett was their post office.
Emil attended the Powder River and Pine Creek schools. His last employment was at the Miles City Mercantile for many years. He took his retirement from here.
He married Theresa Cahill Aug. 16, 1924, at Miles City, Mont. Two children were born to them, Gordon L. who married Marjorie Viall and lives in Bismarck, N.D., and Donald K. who married Alice Nieffer and lives at Apotas, Calif.
Theresa Cahill was born in Minnesota, Aug. 23,1904, to Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Cahill. They homesteaded at Smokey Butte, coming to Montana in 1914 by Milwaukee Railroad.
Theresa attended the Janesville, Minn., Smokey Butte and Miles City elementary schools and the Miles City High School.
Theresa and Ralph Emil Bickle operated the Garfield Grocery store for many years.
They have eight grandchildren.
