This piece of land where Gaskill Creek runs into Little Pumpkin was owned by Mollie Payette. Sixtyfive years ago it was deeded to her niece, Mollie Daly.
It got its name when Richard Eacock, (known to all as "Whistling Dick" because of his habit of constantly whistling in a low tone) lived there. He was the first mail carrier from Stacey.
The old house is still standing. For many years it was used by people who were working out for ranchers, visiting for the summer, teachers, etc. Alvin and Eva Howard, the Tom Watsons, Violet and Gilbert Lowe, Mrs. Edith Combs and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Giest and daughter Maryalys, and Loretta Clarke were but a few of the occupants through the years.
