Her father, Amos Lower, next moved his family back into Montana, settling on what is known as "Sadie Bottom" on the Yellowstone River west of Miles City. Carrie and her sisters attended school in Miles City. In the spring of 1896 she was married to L. S. (Shorty) Badgett and lived on Otter Creek for many years at the 0 Lazy C and the Bug Ranch. Shorty and Carrie had six children, Ina, George, Tommy, Wallace, Lee and Kirk. Mrs. Badgett maintained her home in Miles City during the school years and spent vacations on the ranch. Following her husband's death, she moved back to the ranch with the boys. During the last four years of her life, she lived with her daughter, Ina, in San Francisco, Calif., and died there on Dec. 23, 1950.
