I need to know about the old log buildings around the ball park now. I know that when my brother and sister were very little, they lived in one of then with my aunt Lavern. I have looked in to see them, wondering how anyone could live in one of them. Please provide as much information as possible for him. Thank you Kathie Gierke Zoller

Do you mean the old tourist cabins behind the Legion Hall?

These building may have been built as part of the 1909 Elks convention but were definitely part of the old tourist park in the 1920's. I have a map of it somewhere, showing all the cabins, the main building, the rock garden. The bathrooms were in a separate building.

In the era before big screen tvs and the need to have 1,000 square feet per family member, those cabins provided warmth and shelter. During the Depression, they could have been a very welcome home.
