Disappointment in restaurant service

We have been going to the restaurant at the Olive since it opened. The staff have always been some of the best. They are so friendly!

We had family in from out of state this weekend. We took them there to eat Sunday. What a disapointment! We were greeted with "How many?" We were not offered refills on our pop. Not offered more chips.....with four adults and a half filled basket of chips to start with. There was no thank you, kiss my butt, nothing. I apoligized to family that I had bragged about this place.....

I will not go back. Maybe they were having a bad day or whatever but we deserved better.

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience. We were there on both Friday and Saturday, and the service and the food could not have been better. I hope you give them another chance.

Did you say anything to the manager?

I could be wrong but I think it was the manager.

There could be a forum category for bitching about local businesses.

My family and I (my wife and I for the first time)were there Sun. evening of the Bucking Horse Sale and I was very very surised and pleased with both their food and service. I'm not a HUGE fan of mexican food, but for Miles CIty I'd give that place 3 snd half to 4 stars! We had a table of 12 and were in and out within an hour, bellies full and content.

I have always had the best service and the best food there! I have even started getting to-go orders and they are sometimes faster than the "fast food" restaurants... My dad, who was a self-proclaimed "mexican food hater"... loves it now that we've taken him there...and wants to go every time we go out to eat!!! Which must mean it's pretty impressive! The service every time is fast and friendly...all at a very very reasonable price! Is there anyone else that has complaints??? Or are we all just fortunate enough to get the friendly waiter?????

"Or are we all just fortunate enough to get the friendly waiter?????"

We, at some time or another, have had all of them wait on us, and they all are friendly. They are even nice enough to let my wife practice her spanish, and it has been a 'long' time since she took classes in high school. You might say we are regulars at the establishment.

You were greeted with "how many?". What is wrong with that? Did you ask for refills? Seems that the little things that irked you could have been easily fixed if you just spoke up. I have always had great food and service.

I agree with each post. There were three tables, including ours, with two waiters so I don't know what happened. I was just disappointed that we took family and after telling them how friendly, etc., it was the opposite.

Dang.....most restaurants I go into, greet me with "How Many?"

If I used that as a criterion not to go back, I would write most every restaurant I have ever been to off my list.

Of course, they greet with "how many?" But while they seat you, they usually say something. We were seated, no hello, (as usual) the guy came back and asked what we wanted to drink. We told him. He took our order, brought the food (which was wonderful) sat it down and left. A little later, I asked if we could have refills of which he did. He brought the ticket and that was it. I don't know if this guy was sad, mad, sore throat or what. I commented on it and as usual people start mud slinging. Guess that's why I never hardly post or reply. Sorry for stating my opinion.

Victoria,
I guess if that is the worst service you've ever received you've had nothing but wonderful dining experiences.

Things to really complain about:
Not being seated for half an hour.
Not being asked what you would like to drink.
Getting the wrong order.
Getting a steak the exact opposite way you ordered it cooked.
Finding hair in your food.
Getting brown disgusting lettuce in a salad.
Having a waiter/waitress with disgusting personal hygiene.
Having to chase down your server for the bill.
Waiting half an hour to get your change after you pay.

The list goes on and on.

It's nice you took the time to tell me things I already know. Like I said before, one can state their opinion, and get attacked. Bummer but life goes on.

We've only eaten there once, and it was really good--the service was excellent, too. We definitely got way more than our money's worth! It was very busy that night, too. The only downfall was that it was cold out, we had our daughter with us and the other couple with us had their daughter as well--we were seated right across from the doors so every time the door was opened, we got a very cold "breeze" (it was winter time), but other than that, it was great--I just wish it were a little bit bigger for them as it seems a little crowded in that small room. But they seem to be doing great business! Think I want mexican food now.....sounds good!

Victoria,
It's not attacking, it's simply a different perspective. I wish my biggest gripe in life right now was that a waiter asked "how many" and didn't ask to refill my drink or chips. I'm going to a funeral to bury a friend tomorrow. Your complaint seems so trivial.

If all your other experiences have been so wonderful, why not give them a break that one time it might not have been quite as good. Humans have bad days, or are busy, or things go on behind the scenes. I would never cross someone off my list because one time out of many was not the level of perfection it had been the other times. I don't know of anyone who always gives 100% every single day of their life in everything they do.

we go there once a week and have never had anything but excellent service and fantastic food. Never. The food they serve up comes faster then most fast food places in town, and their place is clean and has good service and good atmosphere...we are always asked how many when we come in, and I do not find that rude or anything else. Since I believe u say this is the first time you had bad service there, why come on here and be so vocal about it!

This guy sounds like the perfect waiter. I'd have given something a little extra in his tip.

I think what's thrown people off is the way you ended your story. Seems rather extreme.

Most of you are right. I have had excellent service every time I have been there with the exception of one night. I should not have said I would not go back simply because of one bad experience. I will return to the restaurant.

Okay, I have apoligized. I won't post any more.

Kacey, this is not my biggest gripe, I assure you. It was an opinion. Maybe I should have thought twice before posting. I always get slammed - you are usually one of the slammers. You need to get ready for your friend's funeral now. No bother in responding as I will not return to this post. Enough is enough.

IMO.
Mexico Lindo is a great place to eat, the food and the service are top notch. Sunday however, is not the best day to go there. Luis is not there on Sunday. He is the glue that holds things together at Mexico Lindo. There are no Birthday Celebrations on Sunday either because no one else plays the guitar but Luis. I'm not saying you will get poor service or bad food on Sunday but the atmosphere is just a little different without Luis.

I am sorry that you had a bad experience. I have always had the best service and food there! Luis does run the show there. Many of the workers (family) do not speak fluent english and are trying to learn. Their food is authentic and they work very hard to make your dining experience there a memorable one. If you ever have an issue, speak with Luis and am certain he will find a way to rectify the problem. If you don't speak up, how will they know you are unhappy? And a word of advice, getting nasty doesn't get better results as I too work in the field of customer service.

Poor, poor little VickieLynn....goes on mc.com to slam a local business, then comes back and whimpers about being "attacked" by the "mudslingers"....As far as attacks are concerned, what I think that Kacey, myself, and the other posters were merely pointing out that the complaints you listed are not even close to being grounds to "never go back again" to a restaurant, as you ended your opening post.

Complaining about the "attackers"....this is so rich.

Pot. Kettle. Black.

Which is par for the course on any thread that VictoriaLynn has started.

If she wants to state an opinion and not have to worry about any nasty feedback, perhaps she should start mailing her opinions to every resident in Miles City.

I went to Yelp and created an account just to praise Mexico Lindo. The scrambled eggs with nopalitos are tasty if you are going for authentic. I like the Carne Asada, the chimicangas and the chili relleones. (Cripes, my spelling of Mexican food is atrocious!)

I think that molcahete is the type of bowl. I'd guess that the reviewer in that yelp review was referring to the salsa.

Bill:

You're right - but in some places in Mexico, they also call the entree "molcajete". And it's FABULOUS.

Amorette: I agree - Mexico Lindo's carne asada and chili relleno are very, very good.
