What are some good rig setups/bait types to catch some good fish in the rivers and lakes around miles city?

Floating jighead with a live minnow, weight (heavy splitshot) about 2 feet up the line.

I always had good luck catching big catfish at night using chunks of goldeye(shad) with enough weight to keep your bait somewhat stationary. Use a red and white spoon to catch your bait. This time of year, the river is probably too muddy to use a spoon. I've seen old guys catch some nice catfish with chicken livers and gizzards.
