Deputy William J. Casey and the Casey family/families in MC

Hi. I've always been told that my great grandfather, William J. Casey, had once been a deputy in Miles City, many years ago. Does anyone have any info on him and the Casey family in general? Many thanks!

Sally,

I think your great grandfather William J(ohn) Casey is also my great grandfather. My Grandmother, Caroline Frances Casey (Stidham), was William's oldest daughter. She was born in Miles City on 26 November 1886. We have quite a few of William's books and in one of them, his son, also William, wrote that his address in 1911 was 519 Washington Street in Miles City. Is your connection to William through his son or daughter?

I just started trying to research my family history when my oldest daughter applied to Carroll College in Helena where I know I had family at one time. William is my Great-great grandfather. His son Charles had son Curtis, who had son Charles Robert Casey and is my father. Thank you for posting here. I was able to learn quite a bit about my ancestry. I am looking to see who my relatives might be in or near Helena today, if there are any. They would be descendants of my great aunt Helen M. Casey. Of course she married and I do not recall her married name. It is interesting to learn William may have been a deputy sheriff, as I am a deputy sheriff.

Caroline's brother, Charles, was my great grandfather. It would be interesting to know more about William. Did any of his books indicate that he might actually be a deputy sheriff, as Sally Peterson was asking?
