Time: April 15, 12 noon
Location: Dawson County Courthouse

There may be people dressed up like they're in the 1700's. They have the eggs on their person. Ask them nicely to give you their Easter eggs. If that doesn't work, be more aggressive.

I don't care who you are, now that there's funny.

How about the Webmaster; Larry, have you hidden any 'Easter Eggs' on milescity.com? Any eggs laid at work you'd care to fess up to?

Looking for an egg? If you have Mozilla Firefox browser installed, Type [about:mozilla] without brackets, in the address bar.

The last "code change" we made to the U.S. version of Windows 95 was to fix about 30 missing names from the "Easter Egg". We took the change within a day or two of releasing the code to manufacturing (RTM). Normally such a change would never be allowed that close to RTM but you can imagine emotions were running pretty high over those missing names.

Eventually (the story was that) Bill Gates himself put the kibosh on "Easter Eggs" and putting one in a Microsoft product was considered a fireable offense.

Going back further in time to the MS-DOS era...

We had a college intern one summer who attempted to sneak an "Easter Egg" of sorts into the MS-DOS command.com program. If you did the right combination of keys command.com would spew the message:

"I [heart symbol] S*X" (no asterisk in his version)

That came very close to going out in MS-DOS version 6.20 but luckily one of the full-time developers decided to more closely scrutinize the intern's work and found it.

We had two interns in our group that summer. One eventually got hired on full time. The other one didn't. Guess which one wasn't offered a job...

Our companies first P25 portable (software engineering in Lincoln), played the Cornhusker Fight Song if you held down 2 or 3 buttons when turning it on. We always thought it was a little cheezy here in Gopher country.
