Mötley Underwood

Being a butt-rocking metal head from the '80's I was a bet skeptical when I was told about this but I just heard Carrie Underwood's rendition of Mötley Crüe's "Home Sweet Home" and with the absence of Mick Mars solo it's a pretty darn good cover of a great original.

BTW, Webmaster is there any way to get a "Headbanger" emoticon for us aging metal freaks?

If you watched American Idol last night you would have heard this version. Not that I watch American Idol.

One of the greatest ballads ever made!! Too bad it was ruined by the little country "star" singer wanna-be! Why can't musician today do their own work?? Too many people doing cover songs. Let see some real talent..That is if they have any.

looking for some good upbeat music to run to you. Just downloaded Pink onto my ipod but looking for some other upbeat rock to run to. I have a ton of 80's music and I'm getting bored of it all.

Alicia,
I'm not sure what you are upset about, but your comments are really out in left field. Carrie Underwood is not just a little country "star" singer wanna-be. Carrie's debut album, Some Hearts, is the biggest-selling American Idol album to date, selling more than 6 million records in the U.S. alone. Her debut CD, Some Hearts, released in 2005, has been the best-selling female country album of 2005, 2006 and 2007. Carrie hit #1 with every single she has released to date, and has won two Grammys as well as a host of trophies from the AMA, ACM, CMA, People's Choice and Billboard, among many others.

And her version is very good.

Carrie has nothing on Vince. Anybody could sing that song and it'll sound great. Glen Campbell, Elvis Presely, George Strait...none of them ever wrote a song of their own, but they recorded great songs...if Elvis were alive today then we would really have something. It's good to see the Crue getting their dues. With the royalities from Underwood's cover, maybe Mick Mars can get that spleen transplant he needs.

Carrie Underwood has great pipes. Too bad she wastes them on country music.

As a Crue fanatic, I'm just not sure how I feel about this. I'll get back to you after I listen to Too Fast For Love in its entirety to get the twang out of my head. I like Carrie and all, but this might be one of those "don't cover" songs. I guess at least she didn't do Girls.

BTW, I hear that at this year's Cruefest, they are playing the entire Dr. Feelgood album as part of the set. Sweet!

Okay this is my input. I grew up in the 80's also. There is no mistaking that I think the orginial song sang by Motley Crue is the best. When I heard Carrie Underwood sing it on American Idol I thought it wasn't bad. It was actually good. I don't think it will be on the top of charts.

I liked Motley Crue, but Home Sweet Home was never one of my favorite songs of theirs.

Of course, I'm strange like that. My least favorite AC/DC song is You Shook Me All Night Long and my least favorite Whitesnake song is Here I Go Again.

I am glad that Carrie Underwood is willing to sing songs outside the limitations that the country genre would otherwise impose.

Kayce,
Thank you for stating that she isn't a wanna-be. I saw that post and didn't know how to word and you hit it on the head. Good job. I was also able to meet her at a fan show at the local radio station and she is so down to earth and cares for her fans. Was truely a pleasure!!

Nobody can argue about her ability to deliver a song. I said about 2 years ago that she very well might be the biggest country star ever, if she continues to pick the right songs. She appears to be well grounded, plays well to her crowd, picks perfect songs for her voice and style, and delivers from the heart. That is the recipe for superstardom. She might well be there already, but the sky is no limit for Ms Underwood.

Stephenie-
Kinda off topic, but I do have an answer! Look for anything by Me First and the Gimme Gimmies. They do only cover songs, that I'm aware of, but they're so different that they're good, and all of them I've heard have a really up-beat tempo.

Yes. I hear their cover of "Search and Destroy" is very peppy.
