Another well known Miles Citian has passed on. Thanks for everything Herb. You were a wonderful man that I am proud to have called my friend. You will be missed.

It was fifty years ago this week that he announced his intention to seek a second term as mayor of Miles City. Man, time flies!

From his obituary:

In his later years, many adults would come by to greet him, in remembrance of their joyful childhood days of buying candy from Herb's Superette.

God knows I bought my share of penny candy from Herb's Superette.

I remember seeing an advertisement in the Miles City Star oh about 10 or 15 years ago, I think it was an ad for Miles City's cable TV company. The ad showed an old photo (1962-ish) of Miles City Mayor Herb Crone flipping the switch that turned on cable TV for Miles City. I think he flipped the switch on top of... I want to say Carbon Hill but maybe it was Signal Butte.
