There are times that a cow pie or paco would hit the spot but I can't get to the Crystal Pistol. Anyone have a copycat recipe I could try to make them at home?

Please explain what you mean when you say cow pie because right now I have a vision of people eating something that they probably just shouldn't eat.

Kacey got pissed at me the last time I offered her a recipe, so she's on her own here.

Cow pies and pacos are a mixture of ground beef and spices that are wrapped in dough and deep fried. Very tasty.

As for you Bridgier, I am so far beyond whatever you're talking about that I don't even remember it. Time to move on.

So, if anyone has a clue as to the ingredients please let me know. I'd appreciate it.

I make pacos, using frozen bread dough. It's easy to use the frozen rolls... let them rise and then "knead" them out to a circle... then, put taco meat and cheese in the middle and fold--like a paco...and pinch around the edges... Then bake on about 350 until they're brown... it's quite easy.
If you don't want to make then, I know you can buy the "cowpie" ones at Reynolds... they're in the freezer section by the hot pockets.

You can buy both cowpies, and pacos (in 2 sizes) @ Reynolds. You're right they are in the freezer section, bottom shelf, by hot pockets.
OR,,, the deli also cooks pacos everyday. So if you don't want to buy a whole box, buy one or two from the deli. Hot & Ready

I live near Albany, NY, so probably won't make it to the Miles City Albertson's in the near future :-(

Anyone know what the "filling" recipe for a Paco is?

You can probably adapt this recipe: http://discussions.travel...1521912949

So how about a serious answer to what the filling contains. Does anyone know?

.....It's taco meat... hamburger mixed with taco seasoning, just like you would put in a taco. And I have always put shredded cheese in too...

The cow pie tastes like it has mustard in it.

Yep, taco meat, cheese, maybe some chilies all wrapped up in doughy goodness! Baked is healthy but deep fat fried...oh yum.

Anyone know how long to deep fry if I try a homemade one?

Are you guys putting cilantro in it? My homemade tacos always have a touch of fresh cilantro . . .really makes a difference.
