Just a reminder that George Winston is performing a piano concert tonight (Thursday, May 30th, 2002) at the Custer County High School Auditorium. The concert starts at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased at the auditorium door.

This concert is for the benefit of the Custer County Art Center, Miles City Concert Association, and the Custer County Food Bank. You are encouraged to bring a donation of non-perishable canned food to the concert in support of the Food Bank.

And, just a wild guess of course, he grew up in Miles City, and it was his birthday.

Don't know about the birthday part but George definitely has Miles City and Billings roots. One of the songs from his "Ballads and Blues - 1972" album is "Miles City Train".

He lived here for about five years as a kid and took piano lessons from Esther C. Benson--known to many of us as "Auntie B."

And I grew up in the house that he lived in while he was here.
