Only 10 . . . yeah I know it's hard to whittle it down. But let's give it a shot.

>>Hal, those songs you listed are POP songs, not ROCK songs

this from someone whose list includes a Bob Segar song? : -) : -)

seems odd you don't have some Billy Joel there to keep Segar company ; -)

In no particular order (except No. 1):

1.) Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin (it may sound trite to some, but it is still the greatest rock song that will ever be).
2.) Hells Bells - AC/DC
3.) Feel Like Makin' Love - Bad Company
4.) Mississippi Queen - Mountain
5.) Street Fighting Man - The Rolling Stones
6.) Voodoo Child (Slight Return) - Jimi Hendrix
7.) Lateralus - Tool
8.) All Day and All of the Night - The Kinks
9.) For Whom the Bell Tolls - Metallica
10.) Back in the Saddle - Aerosmith

Of course, this list could be 100 songs long just as easily as 10.

I would contribute to the country songs thread, but I can't grasp the concept of "best" and "country songs" in the same sentence.

How could I forget "Layla" by Derek and the Dominos?
"Like A Rolling Stone" - Bob Dylan

I've seen "Stairway to Heaven" show up on 10 worst lists.

It's about time to get the youth movement in this thread. Or at least stuff from the 90's on.

It would be easier for me to do a top-10 Pearl Jam list, but I'll limit my PJ to just one.

These are in no particular order, except for number 1.

Black- Pearl Jam
Spoonman- Soundgarden
Bittersweet Symphony- The Verve
Possum Kingdom- The Toadies
Spacelord- Monster Magnent
Spiderwebs- No Doubt
Machinehead- Bush
Wake the Sun- The Matches
Time to Pretend- MGMT
Lake Michigan- Rogue Wave

There are too many good songs to name. Need to start a thread for each decade.

Yeah...or listen to bands like Savatage in the first place.

Now then, what are your thoughts on "Of Rage and War", also from the Gutter Ballet album?

Slayer and Anthrax! Give me a break! Not possible that is on anybody's list of top ten anything. Except birdcage liners. Seen them both many times live, and regret losing that many hours of my life I can't get back. I do respect music, just don't try to tell me that is good music. I do suspect that I am older than some posters here, but gee whiz...............I did see some Skynyrd, always good, some Zeppelin, some Floyd, both of them swell as well. The WHO always delivers. Seen FOO live twice in the last few months, and almost anything they do can be on a top ten list. But Slayer and Anthrax? Just kill me now!
