Webmaster: Is it possible that most of these dead links are/were being hosted by Eric? Just a thought.

"Photos by Kristy", Her studio on Main has been gone for a couple of years.

"Miles City Voice" and "Brandt Info Tech" has pulled the plug. This is not a rumor. I got it from the horses mouth when he was renting a U-Haul for his move to Colorado.

The Chamber, Rotary, and I believe a couple others were hosted on machines at Brandt. He's moved out and the machines are gone. They probably need to look for another host. Hope they can get the data from Brandt to save on the cost of starting from scratch.

If any businesses need help setting up hosting for their webpages please feel free to call me at 853-2553. I would be more than willing to help them get restarted as quickly as possible.

I am pretty confident that Frontier Consulting was on Brandt's system.

Ouch. The death of the webcam is one thing but leaving a bunch of companies without their websites is really the pits. I hope they can at least get their files back, what a nightmare.

I have heard that Eric intends to have his server back online soon so that the websites he hosted won't be lost. He's in the midst of a move and it will take some time to get back up. That is the story I heard through the grapevine. Similarly I have heard that he made an effort to help with a smooth transition of the webcam and other aspects of his business.

If his idea of a "smooth transition" is heading out of town without telling a single client he was going, leaving the Chamber of Commerce and about 10 other businesses without their web sites without notice, then he was smooth. Several web-based businesses were surprised to find themselves essentially out of business, without any warning. That was a smooth transition. John Laney of the Chamber said, "If legal action is necessary to protect our members, we are ready, willing and able to do that."

Eric isn't even answering phone calls from his clients, let alone telling them his plans or refunding money for services he failed to perform.

Sorry, David, I'm glad to see you have a kind heart, but there was nothing smooth about Eric's cutting and running and leaving lots of folks in the lurch.

Time will tell, Amorette. The information I was given was slightly more positive than what has been portrayed on these forums. And, no, I have not been in touch with Eric. Usually the only time I received email from Eric was when he was mad at me for saying something unkind about him here. I think others can relate to that.

Okay, I removed all of the above sites from the "Web Directory", except for two which just needed their addresses updated.

If any come back online, let me know and I'll add them back to the directory.

Could you also change EH Oftedal & Sons name to Oftedal Construction, Inc.? We did a name change last year. The web address is correct now. Thank you!!

Kind of a sad situation when clubs, organizations, and firms which would normally be considered established, long-term things are the ones with vanishing websites.

Are these places out of business, too, or just abandoning their website presence?

EDIT:

ps: Sorry, I just noticed some were possibly the product of being on the same server that went walkabout with Mr. Brandt. Perhaps more the pity.

Why would the Miles City Voice be back up? Has someone taken it over?
