Kentucky & Illinois will never let that happen Tim. Personally I think they should do away with all denominations under a quarter. Are you really going to carry around 4,000 pennies, 2,000 nickels or 4 hundred dimes to pay for ten gallons of gas (roughly $40)? Not only that but is a clerk really going to accept and then count them all?
They cost more to make than they're worth and are a pain in the *** to have to carry around.

I think they should do away with anything under a quarter also but then they couldnt advertise 1.99 or .99 to make you think your not paying quite a dollar

Hey, forget about that penny. What about the 1/10 of a penny?
I once put exactly 1 gallon of fuel in my car, advertised at the price of $3.99 and 9/10s, and after handing the cashier four $1 bills ... they wouldn't give me that 1/10 of a cent back! Highway robbery at its finest!

I believe it costs 1 1/2 cents now to manufacture a copper penny. What are the new pennies made of? What material? Some kind of junk metal?

I wonder what would happen if they'd just quit making them. Hell, there's enough in our couch to supply Montana.
