I think Michael might protest to being associated with Gov. Palin.

Also, the Right are going to support her as a candidate regardless of what "dirt" turns up. Thus far her husband belonging to a group that wanted Alaska to succeed from the US seems like good fodder that's pretty anti-"Country" if you ask me. Good to have that kind of influence standing behind the VP and the President, eh?

Painful speech

Like watching Marge Gunderson speak.

That would be your friend in the woodchipper, then?

Did she just say something about laying pipe in the McCain/Palin administration?

Just saw her RNC speech and I've got to hand it to her: She sure has the courage to speak half-truth with power.

(loved the hockey mom/pit bull line.)

"Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"

That seems to be true . . . apparently even Palin didn't see it coming.

Great speech. Wait till the fact checkers get a hold of it, though. The debates are going to be very interesting. I also can't wait to see how she does in a press conference.

Sarah's speech was an absolute homerun. Mission Accomplished. She is causing me to rethink some of my voting plans.

The democratic VP candidate is just "Biden" his time and will "Palin" comparison to her.

Hear, hear Richard! I also thought her speech was a great shot across the bow. It would've been interesting to have seen a Paul/Palin ticket but having her Conservatism as a sort of counter balance to some of McCain's policies I think is great.

I can't wait until January to see our Nation's first Female Vice President.

The more I read about Sarah Palin the more I'm liking the choice that John McCain made for his running mate. From her stance on Reasonable and Meaningful energy policies to her pro-life stance to her cleaning up of corruption while Governor of Alaska. The McCain/Palin ticket is a vastly better choice than the Showbama/Biden ticket.

I love how the MSM is tripping all over themselves with McCain's selection of Palin as the GOP VP. A woman is the VP Candidate yet they're trying to dig up anything they can find on her to bring her down. The only problem is nothing they've tried so far has stuck. Her daughter has a child? That's gone nowhere fast. The "Bridge To Nowhere"? How appropriate a name as that issue went nowhere as well. She wants to drill for, and use our our own natural resources to get us off Foreign Oil as opposed to Showbama who'd like us to inflate our tires and grow some algae.

She talks a good game and judging by her record she can walk it too.

McCain/Palin - Real HopeChange!

Her speech was very good. McCain win or no, I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of Sarah Palin.

I thought the speech was good too and apparently halfway thru her teleprompter went nuts and she had to deliver the last half by memory. Very impressive if true.

Her speech was what I expected after Rudy warmed the crowd up. Full of sarcasm, anger, and fear. I suspect it will warm up the base as hoped for. Fortunately I think most intellegent people are beyond the fear and angst, and can determine for themselves after reflecting over the past 16 years which party is more rewarding for the majority of people.

That doesn't mean that I think this election will be easily won by Barack.

I thought Governor Palin delivered an excellent speech as well, and I thought her speech gave the viewing public a real glimpse into the psyche and mindset of the Republican Perty - as Mark just hit on it, fear, sarcasm, and hatred.

She would mention her opponents - and the party would boo and hiss.

She would mention cleaning up corruption and promoting alternative energy - the party would provide a tepid round of applause, their hearts clearly not into it.

She would slam Obama - and the party would thunderously roar their approval.

No ideas, just fear and hatred - that's today's Republican party. Contrast that to the reactions of the Democrats last week at their convention. They have a much more positive view of our country.

I'm with the mule. I looked at Palin's wikipedia site again and found this:

"In 1984, Palin won the Miss Wasilla Pageant,[7][8] then finished second in the Miss Alaska pageant,[9] at which she won a college scholarship and the "Miss Congeniality" award.[6] Palin admits to smoking marijuana as a youth, during the time when possession was legal in Alaska, though she says she did not enjoy it.[10]

Palin attended Hawaii Pacific in Honolulu for a semester in 1982, majoring in Business Administration. She transferred in 1983 to North Idaho College.[11] In 1987,[12] Palin received a Bachelor of Science degree in communications-journalism from the University of Idaho, where she also minored in political science."

I'm thinking she "did not enjoy it", so she decided to go to college in Hawaii, for ......? what was the reason again?

I drove around California in my VW van for a week with another Miss Alaska contestant when I was a young, '82 or '83?, showing her the state and some college options. Truly, Alaskans don't enjoy inhaling one bit!

Heh, I think so too. He is probably going to lose out to the NFL season opener at my house but I might catch his speech later on OnDemand or YouTube.

Anyone who thinks that she is qualified to run the US Senate is an idiot.

Hmm, two terms as a City Council woman and then two terms as Mayor for a town of 10,000 people and nearly two years as Alaska's Governor...... Your right Mule, she isn't qualified to run the US Senate.

Palin admits to smoking marijuana as a youth, during the time when possession was legal in Alaska, though she says she did not enjoy it.

I'm thinking she "did not enjoy it", so she decided to go to college in Hawaii, for ......? what was the reason again?

I wonder where this guy spent his teenage years.

Barack Obama wrote that he used alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine during his teenage years to "push questions of who I was out of my mind". Obama has stated he has not used any illegal drugs since he was a teenager.

That whole "Smoked pot" thing is silly. Chances are there are going to be a lot more people in the coming years who have tried/used/abuse at least some form of illegal/legal narcotic that will be running for office. Should the use/abuse of these drugs in the early years be a litmus test for those running for office? If so there's going to be a lot less people who qualify for public service in the future.

It was a well delivered speech. I switched back form FOX to CNN and got the speech from both angles and noticed when CNN showed the crowd they only showed old people and fat chicks (no letters please)
and on Fox you got to see the occasional young attractive person. Just coincidental or a deliberate attempt to show the GOP as fat old people. I don't know.

Absolutely. She hasn't even written one autobiography, let alone TWO.

Even if they are semi-fictional. That takes cajones.
