McCain's Desperation
Posted by ABC (+391) 15 years ago
It became evident to me today, that the McCain camp has become desperate. Today his campaign released a TV ad that visually compares Sen. Obama to Paris Hilton and Brittney Spears; can't get him on the issues, so we'll make a rediculous arguement.

ABC

PS...Everyone should check out http://www.factcheck.org for a third-party ubiased accounts of the campaigns.

There's no significant chance of McCain winning the election, barring Obama remembering to cry "save the children" and referencing god at regular intervals. Doesn't matter if he continues to flipflop over FISA, the 2nd amendment, war with Iran, the ethanol-for-food debacle, the drug war, trade embargos, accountability for hiring illegal immigrants, etc.

However, it isn't going to make much difference to the rank and file citizens; we're still going to continue to have our rights (and the rights of the states) eroded in favor of government that asserts it can do whatever it wants, regardless of the obvious intent of the constitution;

We're still going to be at war in Iraq and Afghanistan for an extended period of time, not to mention possibly beginning a new one with Iran;

We're still going to be the collective victims of the government's war against informed personal and consensual choices;

We're still going to be increasing the taxpayer debt load at an astronomical rate.

Obama is not a solution; Obama is part of the problem.

But you bet we're going to get him. Good and hard. Bend over, now.

How about a nationalized civilian police force, funded as heavily as our military, at Obama's beck and call?

I'd rather give up my long-distance priveleges to Syria, thanks.

Don't overestimate American's ability to display our very prevelant stupidity. Remember, we did elect GWB, without any controversy, quite easily, in the last cycle.

Obama hasn't made it in free and clear yet, there are still plenty of people who are more than happy to continue on our current path.

Hilton's dad and grandfather (both big Republican donors) are none too happy about the Paris Hilton ads.

Nice job, gramps!

This line from the article about sums up why politicans and thier supporting infrastructure disgust me.

"This is a reminder to my brethren at the Campaign: don't bite the hand that feeds us."

Obama should run an ad about how feeble and old McBush is and superimpose McSame with pictures of two or more of the following:

Abe Vigoda
Bob Dole
George Burns
Montgomery Burns
Abraham Simpson

or show the actual footage of McLame and Poppy Bush riding in the golf cart from a few weeks ago. That would be awesome!

I think your candidate will get his shot at the job, Americans will buy anything. But don't pretend that you cann't see Obama is so full of B.S. he'd be brown in any ethnicity. As Ludacris (another of Barack's buddies) would say in his tribute song to Obama "lets paint the white house black".

I'm so depressed at our choices for president, it is sad indeed that McCain and Obama where all we could come up with.

I kinda like the angle... McCain compares Paris Hilton to Barack Obama.... Hilton family furious.

I'd say today's Sharptonesque race hustle shows that Obama's showing some signs of desperation himself.

The emptiness of all the talk is unprecedented.

Bravely promised to confront McCain "Anywhere, Anytime"

sweetheart. I think you need to check your facts before jumping on any bandwagons.
http://www.dallasnews.com...b2fec.html

personally I no longer support any candidates. I feel those who rise to vie for any "high" political office are far too mired in their own agendas to do any of us any good. Oh I vote, mind you, but I am afraid it's always in the light of the old adage "lesser of 2 evils"

"Senator Obama did not want to have a trip to see our wounded warriors perceived as a campaign event when his visit was to show his appreciation for our troops and decided instead not to go,''

Sorry Curt but the fact remains that Showbama chose not to visit with the troops even when given concessions because he didn't want it to be perceived as a "Media Event" and so chose to get a little exercise.

Mr. Gibbs said the plan was to leave the media entourage on the plane while Mr. Obama made his visit.

If that was the case then why did he not go and visit the troops? There would be no media hounding him or taking pictures it would be considered a private event.

As your sourced article even points out:

The fact remains, too, that Mr. Obama could have done a private visit even after the Pentagon raised its objections. Mr. Obama had done such visits before.

Evidently bulking-up is more of a priority for Showbama.

Doesn't the Shrub spend the mornings exercising and the afternoons riding his bike? (I think he even took of the training wheels.) Seems to me like Dubya prefers exercise to running the country.

Please note how I used disrespectful names to refer to Mr. Bush. A political argument is always improved by using disrespectful names like "Showbama" and "Old Fart" to refer to candidates. It shows how deep the thought of the speaker is and how sincere their desire for serious discussion.

You say that as if this were somehow new in these discussions. Turnabout no longer fair play?

"At a time when we've got bigger challenges than any time in our history and you're running ads with Hillary and er - with Britney and ah Paris in it. I mean come on. The American people deserve better."

Not sure that's even subtle enough to call Freudian.

Suffice it to say Hillary didn't look enough like those other Presidents on the Dollar Bill for Obama's taste.
