PRONUNCIATION:
(mis-uh-NEE-izm)
MEANING:
noun: A hatred or fear of change or innovation.

ETYMOLOGY:
From Italian misoneismo, from Greek miso- (hate) + neos (new). Ultimately from Indo-European root newo- (new) that also gave us new, neo-, neon, novice, novel, novelty, innovate, and renovate.

USAGE:
"The prevailing attitude was therefore one of extreme conservatism: may I indeed say of misoneism?"

CLINCHPOOPER: Someone who is a complete slob.

WISTERPOOPER: A slap along side the head.

THENAN: The palm of the hand.

So...If your kid is a CLINCHPOOPER, you should WISTERPOOPER them with your THENAN! LOL!

I do a "word of the day" (latin and greek roots, thanks to Mrs. Shipley at CCHS when I was in HS) with my students. They will love a few of these thrown in!!
