Does anybody know the names of any attorneys who might have been practicing in Miles City in 1884? I would assume there were attorneys practicing since the first criminal case was tried in Custer County in 1877, according to "Dusting Off the Old Ones".

My very favorite MC attorney was Sharpless Walker (isn't that GREAT NAME!) but he was later, early through mid-twentieth century. I'll see what I can find out.

Jason W. (later judge) Strevell, whom Strevell Ave. is named after, first arrived in MC in 1879 and was in practice with James H. Garlock by 1880. Both of those lads stuck around for years.

J.F. Warner started his practice in 1880 and Andrew Burleigh in 1881 but I don't know how long they practiced. The other names I ran across arrived in late '84 to 85.

Thanks for your help, Amorette! You are right, Sharpless Walker is a great name for an attorney! I just wanted to make sure there were some attorneys practicing in Miles City in 1884 and it looks like there were.

Thanks again for the research.
