Calling all 70's classmates
Posted by Bobbi (+97) 15 years ago
We are just a few weeks away from the All 70's Class Reunion for all graduates of Sacred Heart and Custer. If you are planning to attend we need your registrations in by June 1st ( or close to that date) so we can tell the caterer a head count. The reunion is planned for June 13 and 14. Make your checks payable to All 70's Reunion and mail to Box 414, Miles City. $40 for a single, $75 for a couple.

I am curious if there is anyone else that is willing to admit that they are a little apprehensive about this gathering? I have not seen most of my classmates for nearly 30 years, so the picture in my mind is what we all looked like when we were 18. I know that I certainly don't look the same. I have gained a lot of weight and God has installed a marble top on my head.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone. It should be really interesting.

Richard,

We have made preparations for your return to Sacred Heart. The giant yellow slide rule is hanging in the science lab just waiting for you. It will take until mid June to clean the place up, however.

Actually, we are planning on tours of the building as well as a bus tour of the town. In fact, let's talk bus tour. What sights would interest you folks? Hmmmmm, wait. Maybe I should not post this question. Me thinks it might lead to trouble. Oh well, the Lord works in mysterious ways.

If any of you planning to attend cannot find your registration slip, just mail a check to the box number and put what year you graduated in the memo portion of your check. I will make a registration form out for you and get it to your class.

Bart: It would be really cool if we could get Sr. Kathleen to come (I think she is in Aberdeen or Sioux Falls) and give us a refresher on how to use the slide-rule. I was one of the first kids in her chemistry and physics class with an electronic calculator.

The Freese children look EXACTLY as they did when they graduated from high school. Really. It is astounding. You may think we have grey hair and have put on a few pounds but you are wrong. We all look JUST like our senior pictures.

I sent in my $40. I keep coming back to the site to glean more information about the event. Will you send out a schedule of events? Where do I go when?

Will the name tags have the senior photos on them? Names will sound/look familiar; names and faces I will surely remember.

Thanks to all you Miles City resident alums for doing all the work for the reunions. I sure appreciate all your work! Let me know if there is something I can do from out here in Washington.

Thanks Richard for posting the above schedule. The only change is for golf. The golf course had a conflict and moved us to noon. But they said that usually works out better for everyone, especially if one has too much fun the night before. Do we still do that???? I find that hangovers as one gets older takes much longer to get over, likes days sometimes!!!!

Nancy: I just registered you. I will let your class committee know you are coming. You can either mail in a check or just wait until registration. But you are for sure counted as coming. Cost is $40 for a single and $75 for a couple. Make your check out to All 70's Reunion. If you want to mail it in, mail to Box 414. Just let me know if there will be one or two for dinner. Registration is Friday, June 13, 6-9 at the Home Show Building at the Fairgrounds.
Saturday is school tours at 1. The bus tour is being added by members of Sacred Heart, but everyone is welcome. I don't know the exact plans on that but we will let you know at registration. The banquet and dance is Saturday evening. Cocktails at 6, dinner at 7. Have a short fun program planned and an excellent band to play 60's and 70's. See you there. Let me know if you need anything else.

Amorette: Your brother is more than welcome to attend!! I know he would have a good time.

Kacey: I thought about asking Mr. Bender. I am sure many will remember him. I will walk down the street and visit with him this weekend and see if he is interested. We also plan to invite teachers who taught at the high school. We would like them to come out to Friday's registration. Bill Zook remembers lots of us!!!!

And Nancy: I will see you in June. So glad you are coming.

I am wondering if the schools will be open say at 10:30 to 11:00 so we can do the tour and still play golf?

Bobbi,
What is the count now on who is coming? I spoke to someone yesterday who said that almost everyone she talked to said they were not going to the reunion. I told her that there were going to be a lot of people according to this site.

Posted by Bobbi (+97) 15 years ago
My official count as of Friday was 479. I have had several phone call over the weekend and I have about 25 from my class who have said they are coming, but have not yet paid. I do not have them in this count yet. I plan on calling them to make sure they still plan to attend. (I am expecting that most are) I am sure the other classes are sitting the same. I expect 500 or over.

I am very excited about this reunion. Had our 30th just 2 years ago, but these things are always fun. Looking forward to seeing you all there. I'll be the old looking guy with lots of grey hair. Trashed my back today mowing the lawn. Used to trash my back skiing, crashing a dirt bike, or bouncing down the Madison River with my waders full of water and my head barely above water. Now it's mowing the lawn. My how the times have changed. Still plan to kick some serious butt around the golf course though, if my chiropractor can work his usual magic. But if you see me drop my corkscrew, please offer to pick it up for me. I am gonna need that.

Thanks you guys. I have to admit it has been a lot of work, but it has been so much fun. I have reconnected with so many people and I am sooooo excited about next week. The head count is now over 550 and am still receiving e-mails and phone calls. There is still time to get in for dinner. We have a very nice caterer who is working with us very well. E-mail me. I will take names through the middle of next week. I do expect to reach the 600 mark!!!!!!

Amorette - - I am calling your brother tonight! Thanks.

This is phenomenal that so many of us can get together after what has been 30+ years for many of us. We share so many influences that have impacted our adult lives. Many of us have siblings that did not graduate in the 70's meeting up with us that weekend. It seems to be acceptable for siblings to send in money and attend Fri/Sat events. Could you post this officially Bobbi, if this is the case, so everyone is aware of this and you have an accurate count?

Also I heard the Texas Club is sponsoring a street dance in honor of the 70's reunion, I think after registration Friday night. The Texas Club brings back memories for many of us as it was The GASLIGHT in the 70's. This was a HUGE hangout for most of us as the drinking age was 18 at that time.

Bobbi,
Like many others, I procrastinated getting my money to you...I sent it last week, and I hope you got it.

I'll echo the others who said you've done a fantastic job getting this together...really looking forward to seeing everyone again.

One more thing...I noticed in the sites mentioned for the tour that other than Carbon Hill, nobody mentioned my favorite drinking spots!

Thanks!

The last I heard part of Main street was to be closed off and there would be a band playing starting around 9 or 10 on Friday night. Haven't talk to Rick lately. I will see what I can find out.

And we now have over 600 coming!!!!

Bobbi,
Do you have numbers as to how many from each class are coming?
Top
Posted by Bobbi (+97) 15 years ago
When we went around the room at our last committee meeting, most classes had between 40-50 (just classmates and not including spouses.) The class of 74 has over 70. (And I say that proudly) But, remember, there will be lots just coming out for Friday night and coming for the dance, that are from Miles City and the surrounding area who we have not heard from. I know from my class we will see probably another 10 or so. Plus we do have a few from the late 60's and early 80's.

I am sicker than a dog, guess what, I don't even have a voice!!! Wouldn't everyone have a good time with that one!!! Bruce Benti and Richard are having a blast teasingme! Bobbi, any update on the street dance Friday night? Also, is there going to be a bus tour Saturday? Just things I have read about here in this forum. I drive to Billings tomorrow morning and on to MC Friday morning. Looks like the weather may cooperate after all.

I have looked & looked for my registration paperwork....to no avail. I don't believe I can mail a check to you in time, is there a provision for paying at the door? Please count myself & my wife for the class of '73 (Rick Abbott); I'd also like to add my sister and her husband for the class of '75 (Linda Abbott Black).

Yes there is a street dance on Friday night after registration for those who want to head downtown. And there are bus tours on Saturday. Will have all that information available Friday. Bart Freese is driving and has tours all planned. Don't know how big the bus is or what his route is, but that will just have to be a surprise.
