"The Killing of Custer: The Oral Account of the Northern Cheyenne"
Dr. Rowland will preface his presentation with original poetry that he has written.
In June of 2005, a group of tribal elders and leaders of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe made a public presentation of the oral account of how and why Custer was killed at the Battle of the Little Big Horn in 1876. A facilitator of the 2005 event, Dr. Franklin C. Rowland, a Northern Cheyenne tribal member, will provide a presentation of this oral account and will preface his remarks by including an overview of his tribe's philosophy as a backdrop to help explain why and how this event to place. Moreover, this presentation will include ledger art to depict such pivotal events as the Wapoopa Massacre and the killing of Custer by the warrior woman, "Buffalo Calf Trail Road Woman."
Please join Dr. Rowland on Monday, March 17th at 1:00 in room 106 at Miles Community College, or at 7:00 p.m. at the Custer County Art Center as he gives this fascinating free presentation.
