Sounds like they are currently short of staff due to various reasons and cannot offer all the usual services. I assume you can transfer funds among accounts, and you can always write a check and deposit into another account elsewhere. Hopefully they will be back to normal in the near future.

If someone writes you a check on a US Bank checking account,if you go there to cash it they charge you $7.00.When I commented that they were the only bank that had that service fee,the teller kinda nastily said " Well you should deposit it in YOUR bank account,anyway....They were also making people go inside and give them a fingerprint to cash a check there a few years ago...

Charging a fee to cash a check drawn on their bank is skullduggery but perhaps a reflection of how easy it is to counterfeit checks these days.

Many years ago, late 90s to early 2000s, a guy I worked with who was a temporary employee asked me to buy him some software from the Microsoft company store where employees get a discount. I did that for him and the check he wrote to pay me back wound up bouncing. I was not happy. My bank charged a returned check fee.

He wrote another check after payday and I immediately went to the bank his check was drawn on to cash it (I wasn't risking another bounced check fee at my bank). The bank made me give them a thumb print, but they didn't charge a fee. The bank was U.S. Bank.

I have been a U.S. Bank customer since 1989. While I agree that their customer service leaves a lot to be desired, especially post-pandemic, what I like about them is that they are run by a bunch of Minnesota conservatives who watch every penny like a hawk. I know this to be true as a banker friend of mine worked from them but eventually quit because they would not approve the loans he was trying to make. They are not going to fail like a Silicon Valley Bank-type of bank.

Plus, I have multiple accounts and get free checking.

The nearest U.S. Bank branch to where I live closed a couple of years ago. It has been replaced by a state-of-the-art ATM machine in the Wallyworld parking lot. I love this machine because can do my banking and not have to talk to anyone. As I have gotten older, the less time around children, the better.

As a US Bank Customer for over twenty-five years, I have only been inside a maximum of thirty times. Most of those visits have been to use their Notary service (never a charge.) or to get change. I have, from day one, done all of my banking business on-line. I have a checking, saving account and credit card with them. US Banks on-line site is user friendly, secure and I have never paid a fee for my services.
