With thanks to Jake Klamm and family, I am able to post these photos of the original Klamm's Bar, Cafe, Gas Station, and Klamm's Cabin Motel which was located on the northeast corner of Leighton Blvd. and Valley Drive East (U.S. Highway 10-12) in Miles City where ABC Glass and Signs is located today.

John Klamm Sr and Elizabeth Klamm (Jake's paternal grandparents) owned and operated Klamm's Bar, Cafe, and Gas Station, Klamm's Cabins Motel, and a Packard Automobile Dealership in Miles City.

KLAMM'S GAS STATION
(I believe this may show the early stages of construction of the original Klamm's Bar, Cafe, and Gas Station. The photo was labeled "Well house" in the Klamm family photo album. I think the sign on top of the small building says "COMMUNITY GAS".)

The original Klamm's Bar, Cafe, and Gas Station was located on the northeast corner of Leighton Blvd. and Valley Drive East (U.S. Highway 10-12). It was owned and operated by John Klamm Sr. and his wife Elizabeth.

The Klamms also owned and operated the Miles City Packard automobile dealership.

Sometime around the mid-1950s the Klamms built a new building at 2018 Valley Drive East to house the Packard dealership. Today that building houses Evergreen Landscaping.

After the demise of Packard (latter 1950s), Klamm's Bar was relocated to the former dealership building. Klamm's Bar eventually was operated by Leslie ("Barney") Klamm under the name "Barney's Bar". Barney is John Sr and Elizabeth Klamm's granddaughter.

The photo above of John Sr. tending bar, I am not sure if that was taken in the original Klamm's Bar or the new Klamm's Bar location.

I think the picture of John behind the bar could be he in the 2nd bar, later Barney’s Bar. I could be wrong as this is based upon my recollection of events about nearly 75 years ago. When I was in the 2nd and 3rd grade, at Garfield school, I sold Miles City Star papers on Main Street, bar to bar. Sometimes, after school, I would buy cherry bombs at Klamm’s, from John Sr., for 5 cents each. My recollection is the bar in the original building was curved, kind of like half a horse shoe, with pinball and slot machines along the walls. As I said, this memory is a little faded.

I agree that it's likely the second bar aka Barney's Bar.It looks like the men's room door that is behind Mr. Klamm in the picture. The actual bar at Barneys also had a rounded off end like the picture's.What a great place it was!
