No one remembers at the high school who the various sports memorials are for and they asked me to help. So I have a list and am trying to put something together but would love some help.

1) Comer Memorial for football. I think Rick Comer and I think car accident either senior year or soon after but I'm not certain. Sometime in the 1970s?

2) Peterson Memorial (golf). No clue

3) Denton Memorial (basketball). I assume Glenn Denton but am not sure when or why

4) Albrecht Memorial (wrestling). Gus Albrecht? Maybe? Any clue of why or when?

5) Monte Moreno Memorial (tennis). I know post-Prom car accident probably 1970-71.

6) Wilson Memorial (track). One Wilson died in a car accident sometime after I graduated. Late 70s early 80s. Laurie? Other twin lived a sad life for a while.

7) Ashley Award. No clue

1) Rick Comer was class of 1971 according to Hal:

2) There was a Cathy Peterson who passed away on May 31, 1986, at age 16.

4) There was an E.J. "Al" Albrecht who was superintendent in the late 1960s. His wife's obituary doesn't mention her being preceded in death by a child.

5) Monte Moreno passed away on February 11, 1971, at age 17.

6) Laurie Wilson passed away on June 4, 1977, at age 16.

Rick Comer and Monte Moreno were in the same car accident in February 1971.
That was a sad year in Miles City with several individuals being killed in car wrecks.

Rick Comer passed away on February 7, 1971, at age 17:

His obituary says he died in a car accident on I-94 near Miles City. Does anyone know where the accident happened? Did this accident happen at the eastbound I-94 Tongue River bridge?

Yes, it was before they had the guardrails to prevent crashes into the bridge abutments. I don't know about the difference in dates but stand by my previous post.

It's horrific how they are almost all for kids who died as teenagers in car accidents. I remember Monte Moreno because her younger sister was a good friend of mine. I believe alcohol was also involved in the majority of those. Tragic.

Thanks, guys. You really came through, it will be nice to be able to at least put a little information with these awards.
