Remnants of a hand-dug well along the Yellowstone?

Gunnar Emilsson sent this photo to me. He thought the recent high water event on the Yellowstone River had exposed this structure along the south bank of the river, about 1/4 mile or so upstream from where the old wagon bridge crossed the river on Fort Keogh land.

Gunnar speculated it might be the remnants of a hand-dug well possibly dating back to the early days of Fort Keogh. The well was likely a distance of 50 - 100 feet or more from the riverbank when it was built but over time the river has meandered its way toward the well.

I'm a little miffed that Gunnar didn't send that to me. He can consider his personal "Hardy Hot Dog Hotdogger Discount Card" revoked.

:had to happen sometime:

Sorry, Frank, but I knew Dave had an Imgur account and didn't know you had one too.
