This man wants to pass laws to stop a "lawbreaker" from breaking the law. Absolute stupidity backed-up by profanity. Yes it's trajic that these children and adults were murdered but to depend on the police for protection is simply not possible. Even if the police could be there and engage the shooter within two minutes it would be too late. In this case they didn't even enter the building for some 78 minutes. I don't pretend know the answer but more laws that won't be enforced or even followed isn't it. If the government takes away our right to self defense then they will take away all the rest of our rights as well.
If we need guns to defend ourselves, then why did the National Rifle Association prohibit it's members from packing heat to this week's convention in Texas, the land of free carrying?

Quite the contrary Gunnar concealed carry "is" permitted at this week's event.
Go to nraam.org/attend/attendee-faqs/. Scroll down to "Is concealed carry allowed at the show."

Thank you Karen for the info and clarifying link. It's good to see the "Secret Service" is doing their usual outstanding job of protecting this president as they do with All presidents.
This President? You mean this former president. In both 2016 and 2020 Trump lost the popular vote by several million votes. In 2016 he managed to win the electoral college by wins in a few pivotal states by fewer votes than he lost them by in 2020. After the loss he sniveled and whined that it was stolen from him. In his desperation to hang on he or his supporters brought more than fifty lawsuits, losing every one and some before judges he nominated.
It’s understandable that Trump wanted to hang on. His term in office cost the taxpayers tens of millions of dollars. In his hundreds of trips to Florida in the winter and to his New Jersey golf course in the summer he required Secret Service to stay in his hotels at exorbitant rates. You would have expected mister rich guy would have comped their rooms or at least given rate deductions. But no, the secret service money, our tax dollars, went directly to Trump. He demonstrated to us how a true pig flourishes at the public trough.

When I said "This President" I was referring to his status as a president, whether he is formerly or presently a president is immaterial he is still referred to as a president. Unless you are going to " whine and cry" about the fact that he was an acting president. I don't see the relevance of your vitriol. We were discussing whether guns were allowed during his speech not how anyone felt about him. Let's not permit the discussion to devolve into emotional name calling.

Personally, I prefer to refer to Trump not as the President, but as the Traitor, given his never-ending efforts to overturn our Constitution. In the colonial America, he would have been hanged, drawn and quartered.
