Are gas prices caused by price gouging?

Is anyone else fed up with Republicans spreading misinformation (lies)? Now its Biden is the cause of our sky rocketing gas prices when the cause is primarily price gouging by the oil companies coupled with Putin’s war on Ukraine.

I heard a Republican House member on C-Span trying to wax eloquent in blaming gas prices on Democrats. He claimed the canceling of domestic oil leases, canceling the Keystone Pipeline and some of the arctic drilling is the cause. His claims were all crap. There are thousands of unused domestic oil leases and if the Keystone Pipeline would have received a full fledged go-ahead by Biden it would still be years before it would be operational. Further, while there is a portion of that pipeline that is in service now, it is running at only about fifty (50) percent of capacity. Finally, the XL pipeline was never meant to benefit us domestically. Its tar sands oil was always meant for China.

Another consideration is, should we allow our private lands to be seized through eminent domain by foreign-owned companies such as TC Energy that is affiliated with Sunshine Oilsands LTD. Sunshine’s Norwegian management, in 2021, consisted of Kwok Ping Sun, Chairman of the Board and Gloria Ho, Executive Director, CFO, with its Board of Directors Hong Luo, Linna Liu (also with the investment division of the Bank of China), Xijuan Jiang, Raymond Shengti Fong, Joanne Yan, and Yi He.

Its time our talking head news people start asking real and relevant questions of Republicans when they’re shooting off their mouths.

Shhhh! I inherited a wee bit (very wee) of oil company stock. I'm waiting to rake in my dividends!

Reality is that, although it doesn't really make a difference since I am in the minority, I vote for all the things I consider "responsible" choices each year (including paying the board of directors less). I also go out of my way to inform others as to what "reality" is for the price increases. The monetary value on the stock is not what I value most about it.

Back in 2008 when that simpleton Shrub junior was in the Whitehouse, and gas prices hit all-time record highs, I didn't blame him. I will always blame the oil companies for gas prices. If this county had any sense of self-preservation and any forward-thinking political leaders, the gas prices would be a non-issue by now. But we don't, so here we are.

Ah shoot, am I the only one who has wondered about our Senate Minority Leader's connections? His second wife, after he achieved political power, is of Chinese heritage with strong familial ties to Chinese corporate leaders. She served on Donald's cabinet, not resigning until the very messy end of his presidency.
Yep, I am wondering about Mitch, aka "the Grim Reaper". Am I out of line to wonder if she was only interested in his mature wisdom, charm, and debonair style?
To paraphrase Paul Harvey, "What is the Rest of the Story?" I was amazed that he was never really questioned about his personal connections, as he won re-election last year as the Senior Senator from Kentucky.
