What Happened to American Conservatism

Excellent article well worth the read.

https://www.theatlantic.c...6MmpVuKhsM

"Trumpian Republicanism plunders, degrades, and erodes institutions for the sake of personal aggrandizement. The Trumpian cause is held together by hatred of the Other. Because Trumpians live in a state of perpetual war, they need to continually invent existential foes—critical race theory, nongendered bathrooms, out-of-control immigration. They need to treat half the country, metropolitan America, as a moral cancer, and view the cultural and demographic changes of the past 50 years as an alien invasion. Yet pluralism is one of America’s oldest traditions; to conserve America, you have to love pluralism. As long as the warrior ethos dominates the GOP, brutality will be admired over benevolence, propaganda over discourse, confrontation over conservatism, dehumanization over dignity. A movement that has more affection for Viktor Orbán’s Hungary than for New York’s Central Park is neither conservative nor American."

Did you read the article?

I went back and read the article a second time and I came to the realization that American Conservatism has never been anything close to what the author aspires it to be. At least not for a very long time.

And, as Trumpian conservatives support and trust a murdering authoritarian dictator currently attacking a European ally over an American President, I see that the Republican party is a lost cause.

It's interesting how Putin didn't make this move sooner. Is it because he didn't want to betray Trump while his puppet was in the White House? Probably.

“Posted by a dumb ass, racist, environmental hating, Putin / Trump loving Republican.”

There are some people not deserving of life in a Democratic Republic and then, again, there are some that just actually enjoy being ignorant. There’s no way to be sure. However, it’s probably just that in ignorance some may enjoy a sense of safety, knowing what they know to be true and everything else a lie. With this mentality, intellectually, chicken $hit cowards have a piece of security that can’t be shaken.

In life, things the ignorant thought they knew are being taken from them daily. They aren’t comfortable with that loss. To their dismay, even inconsequential things, that they are incapable of understanding, are being rewritten. This leaves them with a sense of not knowing what’s in store for them. So, some take the next best option, which is saying what they want and pretending there are no consequences.

I personally don't think "DJanssen" is drunk when he posts here. I totally think it is meth. It is the ability to spell that separates him from those who are, unfortunately, stupid from birth like the now banned Jerry E. Jerry was sober as a judge, but dumber than a box of rocks. I suspect "DJanssen" is quite intelligent, but only posts when he is as high as a kite.

I gave a up thumb, not because of that "not deserving to live" comment but the other points, well, they work both ways. I can pick those jewels out and find some commonality!!! And I don't enjoy being ignorant. I lay awake at night wondering if I am.

"Proudly Ignorant.

Deliberately Stupid.

Ragin violent hate.

Open racism, white nationalists, jingoism, shallow brainless patriotism.

They are gun humping conspiracy nuts who embrace sedition, insurrection, treason as virtues and loudly raise up foreign despots as their heroes.

This is the pinched bitter screaming face of the Republican Party today.

This is what the once venerable Party of Lincoln has become.
A fist, smashing in the face of Liberty.

History shows again and again and yet again, that a political party and an ideology that accommodates and encourages this yammering ignorant hate cannot build anything.

It can not build anything.

It can only destroy.

This mean small ingrown ideology can only make the world a worse place, never better.

This kind of mindless slavering hatred and greedy bitter lust for power is exactly what led to the war in Ukraine -- and every other atrocity throughout history.

This horrible worldview is precisely the vile bilious hatred condemned over and over by the very religion these people claim to believe in. They are the selfsame antichrist they claim to fear.

If Republicans do not remove this vile cancer from their midst, then they have become a disease upon the body politic.

And sooner or later, like any other malignant tumor, we're going to have to cut them out.

Before they kill us all."

I'm sure that Mr. Janssen won't bother reading the article and is most likely PROFOUNDLY procreating ignorant of the author's bio - but that won't stop him from dismissing all of that as some liberal hogwash..
