Yes Dolly Parton. I was surprised. If she is nominated where are Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings.
A glaring overlook for many years...Neil Sedaka. Why is this man not in the RNR HOF?

I remember listening to Sirius XM's "50s on 5" channel one time when the announcer declared something like, "Playing all of the hits from America's first decade of rock and roll," after which they immediately played this song:

With this in mind, I demand that Lawrence Welk and his orchestra be admitted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Yes, Dolly Parton - It's crazy how many people think "I will always love you" is a Whitney Houston song, but Dolly wrote it, and originally had it as a country hit. Also "9 to 5" was a big cross over hit. Her song writing would be what would make her belong there. https://www.grammy.com/news/grammy-hall-of-fame-inspirations-jennifer-hudson

I was listening to Casey Kasem replay of the Top 40 from Feb 1979. Lo and behold there was Dolly at #27. He also mentioned she was on the Country Charts with this song

27: BABY I'M BURNIN' - DOLLY PARTON

Dolly Parton Vows To Make A Rock Album If She's Inducted To Rock Hall
By Andrew Magnotta @AndrewMagnotta
Feb 14, 2022
Dolly Parton isn't convinced she's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame material, but if the Rock Hall's voters induct her this year, the county icon says she'll do her part to advance the genre by making "a great rock 'n' roll album."

Parton is among a list of 2022 Rock Hall nominees that includes, Beck, Pat Benatar, Kate Bush, Devo, Duran Duran, Eminem, the Eurythmics, Judas Priest, Fela Kuti, MC5, New York Dolls, Rage Against the Machine, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, A Tribe Called Quest and Dionne Warwick.

While Parton is no rocker, her influential status as a country legend and beloved pop culture figure make her Rock Hall induction seem more or less inevitable.

"I was absolutely floored when I heard that," Parton told Billboard. "I've never thought of myself as being rock 'n' roll in any sense of the word — but I guess they judge it on music and the influence certain songs have had, and I guess I've had songs with other people in that realm. But I don't know how they judge that.

"I'm not expecting that I'll get in. But if I do, I'll immediately, next year, have to put out a great rock 'n' roll album — which I've wanted to do for years, like Linda Rondstadt or Heart king of thing. So this may have been just a God-wink for me to go ahead and do that. It's just nice to be nominated."

Parton is currently (as of 10 a.m. February 14) fourth in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's fan polling, behind Eminem, Duran Duran and Benatar. You can check latest fan-polling numbers here.

I was listening to Sirius radio outlaw channel. On comes Dolly Parton singing Led Zep's "Stairway to Heaven". It is off her album from 2002 called "Halos and Horns". Give it a listen

Dolly Parton has turned down her nomination for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The music legend, 76, penned a sincere message Monday on Instagram explaining her decision.

"Dolly here! Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don’t feel that I have earned that right," she began. "I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out."

Good for Dolly. She obviously has more common sense than the Hall.

Dolly also turned down the Medal of Freedom twice: https://www.latimes.com/e...edom-twice

They should have an award for the person who turns down the most awards. I nominate Dolly Parton, but shew would probably turn down that award, also.

I can agree with Pat Benatar, Duran Duran, The Eurythmics, Lionel Richie, Judas Priest, Harry Belafonte, Carly Simon and Dolly Parton.
Not so much with Eminem, Jimy Jam & Terry Lewis
I frequently listen Casey Kasem old shows and Dolly frequently show up with a song in that particular week Top 100.

I can't agree with any of them outside of Judas Priest, and they are marginal at best
This class proves that rock is dead.
