Is it time for Republicans to consider changing the name of their party that is indicative of their extreme positions on issues facing citizens of this country? A recent poll found that about 50 percent of Republicans are opposed to any vaccines. Leading the charge is Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan. He is the one who rarely wears a suit coat. He now is leading a Republican charge seeking to not mandate any vaccines. This would include, among others, Smallpox, Diphtheria, Pertussis, and even Poliomyelitis.
Obviously, he and most of his party were not around to appreciate polio. They didn’t have to swim in the river after their mothers would tell them, on a hot day, you're not going down to that polio pit of a pool. They weren’t around to see friends in Iron Lungs. Then, if they survived the time they spent breathing with the assistance of an iron lung, it probably would be followed by a lifetime in a wheelchair.
Since Republicans are also almost unanimous in opposing abortion, Medicaid and food assistance, they should work up new campaign slogans. They could start with let children be born into a life of sickness and malnutrition or how about, vote Republican, let's bring back polio?
