I feel your pain. I dislike Jersey Greg as well. All he did in the last legislative session was to promote division and restrict individual freedom.

Why confine one’s disgust to the present governor? The legislature deserves credit as well. The legislative representatives recently provided us with op-eds and returned from Helena while patting themselves on their backs in self-aggrandizement. They actually should have slinked back like cur-dogs that just took a crap in the living room.

I have followed the legislature for close to sixty years, including working close with it during the session forty-five years ago when I was general counsel to the Montana Public Service Commission, This was right after Montana adopted our Constitution in 1972. It was an intellectually stimulating time to be involved with governmental processes. The legislature worked together to provide the state with codes for a state on the move.

Representatives involved with the session just ending should be ashamed of their disgusting lack of insight and allowing their self-interests to interfere with their responsibility to public need. The legislation passed and signed into law this session is rife with serious problems that will set this state back for decades to come. I will refer to just a couple of areas where I see problems on the horizon. One problem is the legislature usurping the constitutionally mandated authority of the Regents to manage the university systems. Another problem is the legislature interfering in another of the three branches of government, the Judiciary. What do you think?

akgreg56,
I drove by the Wendy's on my way to work this morning as I do every morning. They have a sign in their front lawn looking for help. The sign says "starting wage $13 per hour". This is the first day I have seen that sign there.
1. That's pretty darn good money for that type of work; work that is not overly physical.
2. Any legal work when you are supporting yourself through your talents and labor is honorable.
3. I must agree with Cubby on this, there is so much work in this town for anyone willing to work. In fact, I am hearing rumors of some businesses teetering on the brink due to the inability to get employees.
Anyways, this post is intended to help, not to endlessly bloviate.
Take care and good luck to you.

I don't know the OP's particulars, it may be that he's got a pretty good case of long covid and would be better off with the federal plan instead of being forced back into the workforce because now he's going to fall between the suddenly wider cracks.

It's pretty disgusting to me that the solution that the state (and it's employers) wants to pursue is "make people more desperate to survive so they'll take poopty jobs" instead of "offer higher wages to encourage people to overlook the pooptiness of their jobs"

Very procreateing christian all around.

I'm calling BS on your BS. There may be openings, but most of them appear to be part-time. You're not going to make enough to pay $900/month for the Flanze apartments and have enough left over to buy groceries.

Consider the following:

McDonald's
Shift Manager in MILES CITY, Montana
This job posting is for a position in a restaurant owned and operated by an independent franchisee and not McDonald’s USA. This franchisee owns a license to use McDonald’s logos and food products, for example, when running the restaurant. However, this franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from McDonald’s USA. If you are hired for the job described in this posting, the franchisee will be your employer, not McDonald’s USA. Only the franchisee is responsible for employment matters at the restaurant, including hiring, firing, discipline, supervisions, staffing, and scheduling employees. McDonald’s USA has no control over employment matters at the restaurant. McDonald’s USA will not receive a copy of your employment application and it will have no involvement in any employment decisions, including whether you receive an interview for the job or whether you are hired.

People who work in a McDonald’s restaurant perform a number of different tasks every day, and this posting does not list all of the essential functions of this job.

NO WHERE is a salary quoted and the fact that it is "shift" work implies that it is not full-time. The "health benefit" is BS because the employee still has to cover the deductible. I know this from personal experience as one of my sons, slipped on some ice while taking an order to a car and broke his arm. He had to pay the deductible and could not work for several weeks.

The idea that people have to work 2-3 of these gigs and put their own health at risk with sleep depredation is no way to live. We should be better than this.

The notion the "Gubinor" is laboring under is total BS. His actions are shameful. The FUIGM syndrome with all of these out-of-state politicians you've empowered is not the MT in which I was raised. Why the fukc you rednecks elected this asshat is still a mystery.

They elected that asshat because there is nothing a Montana Republican loves more than a rich out-of-state carpetbagger.

"But....he's no politician! He's a businessman! He knows how to create jobs! Der der der!"

Here are some headlines from a newsletter that I got today from an organization that I belong to:

GF Tribune:
"Montana governor signs bill targeting transgender athletes"

Helena IR:
"Montana Legislature made lots of late changes without public comment"

"Montana governor signs bill targeting transgender athletes"

"Gianforte signs bill ending local government's power to enforce mask mandates"

"Gov signs law curbing hospitals' ability to require vaccinations for workers"

Montana Free Press:
"Gianforte signs bill restricting transgender athletes"

"The quiet bills": (2/3 of 127,00 public comments dealt with 50 bills of the 1313 that were considered by the legislature

These headlines were on one day's newsletter. Throughout the session, there were reports on many bills and the pitfalls that they have created for us.

I was not surprised by the local representative and senator "crowing" about their accomplishments. Their claims that it was a public mandate are pure male bovine excrement. They just pandered to the extremist white zealots who think their beliefs are all that matters. What ever happened to the "golden rule" that they were supposedly taught? It sounds like they want to privatize the state for only the rich and annointed.
