Republicans are imperiling everyone. Almost 50 percent of them are taking the position of not being vaccinated against the Covid virus. If they read or understand anything, they would know that the longer we allow this virus to hang around the more it will mutate and the more variants will appear. At some point, the mutation of this virus could result in a variant not susceptible to the current vaccines and we’ll be right back where we started. Then maybe the dullard Republicans can manage to reelect the orange-headed cockroach. He could assure them it will magically disappear in a few weeks and in the meantime just add a little Lysol or bleach to your cocktails or beer.

I think the GOP'ers have nothing to fear. Even if Bill Gates created some form of tracking in the vaccine, it's a Microsoft creation and will spend the next 2-weeks updating and rebooting, by which time it will be outdated.

When I got my second covid shot,I jokingly asked the nurse "Is this the shot that has the microchip tracker in it or was it the first one?" She laughed and said 'I don't know how they would track anyone.We grab vials out of the freezer and we don't scan or record any numbers off them."

That's disappointing. I was really hoping to be able to communicate with Bill Gates through the chip. The $1400.00 wasn't enough to develop my own space laser, so I was hoping to get Bill to invest with me. Oh well, I will just have to be happy with protecting myself and others by doing my part in being vaccinated.

One of the side effects is that some of you might become normal .. And does it really work. And if it does then we should be mask free.

Or it could get to the point where it will not be so contagious. Does China have any input on this scent they developed it.

The concept that Covid will go away without action being taken is worse than foolish. I am fortunate to have friends in other countries because of Jobie. Regardless of where we live, we are all pretty much the same. Singapore took the virus seriously and they have pretty well conquered it--amazing when you consider the size of the population and the close proximity they live in. Brazil, however, has a leader that has poo-pooed the situation (many refer to him as Trump Jr.). I have seen the news reports about the situation in Brazil. Today, I received an email from Hissa (she is the one that did the Jobie drawings--some of you may remember them). Here are a few excerpts from that email:

The last time I checked, 79% of Brazilians wanted to be vaccinated. This number might be higher now with the health system collapsing, we are living a nightmare! I saw a video of doctors crying inside of a hospital today, desperate for help, we are running out, not only of oxygen but out of medicines needed for intubation. There are over 700 people waiting for a bed only here in the region I live in, this all escalated VERY fast in the past three weeks!

The former Governor of the state where I used to live passed away waiting for a bed and this shows that there are really no beds, not even for the rich and influential.

My neighbour next door passed away this week, we never knew she had covid. And we came to know that the other neighbour has it too and is in quarantine. The virus is very close to us, so I can't wait for my mum to get a vaccine soon! My dad's turn to get a vaccine arrived! My parents have the same age, but the vaccination in my dad's town is proving to be faster than here. Here they are still vaccinating 76+. When my parents get the two doses, I'll be able to relax a little bit. Of course, I want to get a vaccine as soon as possible, too.

The Government announced the purchase of more vaccines and we are also producing them now as we have the active pharmaceutical ingredient. They say we have 562 million doses of vaccines guaranteed and we are all going to be vaccinated by the end of the year. So, there is light at the end of the tunnel, HOWEVER, things need to start happening soon because the health system needs a break and the economy is plummeting.


That's what the report is from inside Brazil (yes, they have at least one variant there--more contagious and more deadly). I suppose I feel this more deeply than some because it is my friends that are impacted and Hissa is one of the most talented people I've ever known. Still, I question why people here want to take the risk of this happening to us (as it well could). There are some things I am simply not capable of comprehending.

But the science are saying that they don't work. keep wearing your mark then . But you're telling me then you don't think the vaccine really works.

The purpose of the vaccine is twofold. First, if you are vaccinated, and get infected with COVID-19, your immune system will be able to effectively fight off infection. This will decrease the length and severity of the sickness, decreasing the chance to pass it on to others (if you wear a mask). Second, the vaccine will help decrease the severe symptoms, and prevent potential long-term or lifelong side effects, and decrease the chance that you will be hospitalized if infected.

The main purpose of a vaccine is to reduce the severity or prevent the disease caused by a pathogen. Reducing or eliminating the spread of the virus is secondary, but still important, to preventing the illness. If the majority of the population has developed an immune response via a vaccine, the pathogen will naturally stop spreading. This is also called herd immunity.

Getting vaccinated, and wearing a mask will both help us quickly finish off this pandemic. That is if we all do our part. Get vaccinated, and continue to wear a mask.

Unfortunately, there are many in this country who stupidly believe that wearing a mask is a violation of their civil liberties. Many other morons believe in conspiracy theories around the vaccine and will not get the shot. So, because of these idiots, we will continue to deal with this pandemic, and the new variants of the virus being spread by the anti-mask fools.

I was brought up with the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you wish them to do unto you. In other words, be polite, kind, compassionate and caring. That is apparently an anathema to the modern conservative mindset. I also have noticed they hate science and reality but it is the whole selfish bastard thing that bugs me the most.

This thread is from March. Now we are dealing with large increases in COVID infections in (SURPRISE!!) areas with low vaccination rates. Nearly 100% of all hospitalizations and COVID deaths are among unvaccinated individuals. The Delta Variant is more contagious and just as lethal as the original, but the vaccine does provide protection.

Out in Western Colorado, Trump/Boebert country, we have low vaccination rates and a large increase in COVID infections. There was recently an outdoors country music concert called Country(COVID) Jam. Mesa County Public health put a vaccination tent out there to vaccinate all the concert goers, for free. I think they said 5 people got the shot.

Thank you, Trump supporters, for causing another surge of death and misery in our Country.

It's more than ironic that old the white men refusing to get vaccinated because there might be side-affects, rely every weekend on the side-affect of another Pfizer medication to get laid.

If it wasn't for the fact that a large number of the people who are going to be impacted are those who CAN'T get vaccinated yet (ie, children under 12), I'd probably care very little for the fate of the the willfully unvaxxed. I guess i'd rather not pay for the medical fallout from long-covid either, so if they could die quicker, that would be most appreciated.

To "Jerry e" - You are confused about how the vaccine and masks work. You seem to think that people who get vaccinated shouldn't wear masks to "prove that the vaccine works." This makes no sense. Vaccinated people can get the virus. What the vaccine does is lessen the chance of getting the virus and ALSO make the symptoms much less serious if you do get it. And when the symptoms are less (less coughing and sneezing), an infected person will be less likely to infect others. But, a person could get vaccinated and then get the COVID virus, but have no symptoms due to the vaccine, and then give the virus to someone who is not vaccinated, and the unvaxed person would likely end up in the hospital and maybe die. Those of us who are vaccinated wear masks mostly to protect YOU, the unvaccinated person. Also, masks are better at preventing germs from the wearer from reaching others more so than to prevent the wearer from getting a germ from a non-wearer. So, again, wearing a mask is to protect OTHERS more than to protect the person wearing it. That said, people wearing masks are statistically significantly less likely to get COVID in a room full of non-maskers than someone who isn't wearing one. So the masks do protect the wearer somewhat as well. In sum, getting vaccinated and wearing a mask is part of caring about your community as much as it is about caring for yourself.

If you are selfish and ignorant, you skip vaccine and masking. If you care about other people and are educated, you get the vaccine and wear a mask. It really is that simple.
