With the very cold temperatures in mid-late January (coldest below zero weather stretch in around 40 years), one would think the ice on the rivers would be thicker and thicker ice means more probability of ice jams, I wonder if this might be a good year or bad year for ice jams. The bombing of the ice jams took place on March 21 of 1944 and I don't think the ice on the Yellowstone and other rivers has gone out yet. With the coming week of 50 to 60 degree temps, are we due for troublesome ice jams?
