Account lookup for registered users?
Posted by Timothy W (+14) 2 years ago
Larry how about you take a poll/vote on how many milescity.com registered users would like to have a lookup for other registered users actual names. Basically a way for someone to put a face to the user. People who hide behind fake names are being embolden to post things they may not normally say in public. We should be allowed to know who is posting IMO.

Why does it matter?

Why should anyone here insist that they know who the other person is?

Who cares?

How does it help out in the real world?

The amount of ACTIVE users on this site is very minimal and what is said here in these forums is not really influential to the rest of the population of Miles City.

I'm not active, this is the first time in a long while I actually typed something out, but I do check things out to see what's up within these "walls." This is all it is... a "room" If it was a real location, then you can have faces and names, but since it is the internet, you ain't gonna have it.

So don't worry about what someone says, or what someone's opinion is. Just because you may disagree with someone's opinion, doesn't mean you should break out the virtual pitchforks, lol.

Another term is "Doxxing" I think. And it seems to me that your request comes close to this. Webmaster can probably clear this up. On a private site like this, the right to free speech is a privilege and someone can be banned for whatever reason, but i think on the opposite end, exposing who is saying what and when and where, for what they type, that may be against the law? Again, not too sure, so maybe the webmaster can clear this up.

Now, the above is just MY opinion and I may be wrong, but no matter where you stand, politically or whatever, you are standing on a fine line.

When I first logged in 18 years ago, Milescity.com was populated almost exclusively by people using their real names or usernames easily discernible as to who they were.

Since then a lot of people who made significant contributions to this site and the history of Miles City have passed. Off the top of my head-

Johnnie Thomas
Pete Petro
Ricky Flor
Many others I can't remember quickly and a few more who may be not be long in coming

A lot of names will be added to this list

Keeping in mind that what's posted online is forever, do you want to go down in history as "anonymous" or are you a real person who made a real contribution?

I have never been ashamed to be known for my opinions. I take pride in being open and honest and unafraid. And my system is to basically ignore the anonymous cowards unless I know who they actually are. Our world is small and we can usually figure it out.

Just remember that my opinion matters the most. The real cowards on here resort to name calling. Like troll, racist and Trumptards . Shows you how small some people are.

Jerry, it's not like you make it hard to figure these things out, your own words tend to condemn you...

Jerry, my dear boy, again, people don't talk about you in front of you, as far as you know. It is always a joy to read your twat wattle, posts. If it wasn't for people that post under a nom de plume, who would I toy with. I would prefer that people continue to post anonymously. "Don't Go Changin'"

Respectfully Submitted,

Tucker James Buford Bolton BA
Late of Denver, Colorado
In residence, Miles City, Montana.

I do enjoy reading Jerry's horrific racist posts here as many of my friends tell me, no, you are exaggerating on how uneducated and racist Trump supporters are.

Then I will link them with a couple of Jerry's posts and they usually respond with "I stand corrected."

Jerry E, The above statement requires, no, DEMANDS an explanation. I am flustergated, confulseled, and completely, belitterated. Help me out, please.

I am not using my real name here, because most of the childish and racist thoughts recently expressed on this site are embarrassing. This isn't the "your word is as good as your handshake" community in which I was raised.
