Tell Custer County to enforce the mask law!
Posted by Dick Ellingson (+1332) 2 years ago
Montana has a REQUIREMENT that, in any county with FOUR or more active Covid-19 cases, wearing a mask is MANDATORY!

Last Tuesday, October 6th, I called Custer County Health, (406)874-8700, and spoke to a public health nurse who confirmed the above rule and told me Custer County had eight active cases. She agreed that we are at serious risk of getting the virus, but she told me the county will not enforce the mask rule, preferring that people "do the right thing" on their own!

In our current dangerous political environment, this is not going to happen!!

The nurse also said she would have a county health officer call me. Nobody called.

She gave me the number of the County Sanitarian, Mike Rinaldi, (406)366-1424. I left a message and didn't get a reply.

Call Custer County Health at (406)874-8700 and let them know that you're concerned.

Just so you know it is not a law. It is a directive. Laws can only be passed through legislation. Directives are suggestions and in no way can they be enforced and that is why they are not being enforced.

Don't need to post under my real name just to please you. Pretty tough for someone who uses a name that may or may not be his to argue with facts isn't it Dave? if that is your real name.

Because this is a liberal forum and you can't treat anyone with an opposing view with the respect that you demand from them. You resort to name calling and foul language and won't even consider the fact that someone else has an opinion that just might be valid if it is not the same as yours.

Grew up in MC and you have the quote wrong. I will explain it to you. A man's word is his bond means if a man tells you he is going to do something he does. It has no meaning to whether or not you post in a liberal forum with your name or with a something made up.

Had you paid much attention on this "Liberal" forum, you would know who I am and how Conservative I may be.

Until you post under a full real name, you're another chicken in my book,

Well whether the dude is a Trump fan or not, he's correct.... the mask directive IS NOT a law and it DOES NOT have any force of law, therefore you cannot be ticketed, detained or otherwise punished for not wearing a mask.

I got this information from a local law enforcement officer who is tired of hearing "he's not wearing a mask!" complaints that he doesn't have the authority to do anything about.

Please note, I'm not arguing whether masks are a good idea or not. I agree they're worthwhile. And I'm a conservative.

Here's the governor's mask directive. Enforcement actions are only taken against non-complying businesses, not individuals:

This Directive is enforceable only against businesses and other persons who are responsible for indoor spaces open to the public, or sponsors of organized outdoor activities as defined in this Directive.

okay KAREN.... if you're so worried about catching the flu virus or getting stung by a wasp or being hit by a car or the multitude of other dangers that may befall you or anyone else then your best bet is to just stay home. Most of us are barely scraping by financially at this point as a result of COVID - if local & state governments were to enforce mask wearing just who do you think will pay for the addtional costs when police and court budgets are already allocated. The cost would fall on taxpayers.

How about people wear masks because it is the intelligent and compassionate thing to do? It's not hard.

I'd rather pay for masks than funerals

Also! My wife's name is Karen. She wears a mask

Was it intelligent and compassionate the way you treated another person? I recently helped one of your citizens who was involved in a motorcycle accident. He wasn't wearing a mask and I had no gloves to protect myself from any blood born pathogens. I guess I could have stood on the side of the road and done nothing as most of you mask wearers would have done if you didn't have a boat load of PPE to put on. I was there in a heartbeat did what I could do and didn't even once think about me so don't you dare say a freakin word to me about compassion.

No, dumbpoop, it's because your scenario proves nothing, because you can't prove a negative - you have no idea what Amorette (or I) would do when presented with your scenario - you ASSUME that the lack of a mask would preclude her from helping someone, but that's just a story you're spinning - it didn't actually happen. You know it didn't happen, right? Amorette was never presented with the choice of helping a motorcyclist, because she wasn't there.

name calling again. Gonna say this again masks do not help. As of today US has 10.3 million cases of covid reported since this started. 240K deaths since the start. Population is 331 million. We have tried to mandate mask usage and I would say 50% of the population wears one religiously, probably more because I see more with a mask than without. Sweden has reported 162K cases and 6057 deaths since this started. Sweden's population is 10.1 million. Our population is approx 33 times more than Sweden. If you multiply 162K by 33 you get 5,346,000 cases and 6057 times 33 is 199,881. Sweden's per capita cases and deaths are lower than ours. Here is the kicker. Sweden is not requiring anyone to wear masks indoors or out doors. Now if you go to Italy and look at their numbers they are a little higher in cases and deaths per capita as the US. Here's the kicker. Italy requires masks be worn at all times indoors and out. Obviously to anyone who actually thinks the numbers don't lie. Mask are not effective in stopping this.

Same thing happened here in Ada county, but unfortunately we can't keep Canyon County anti-maskers on their side of the county line, and the cases have started climbing.

The small little group of liberals here talk hypotheticals none stop. For instance Tucker (not his real name is it Jim? since you all are so big on using real names) says he and his wife got covid from non mask wearers. He does not know that and there is no way to ever prove it. You all think that if everyone wears masks the numbers would go down. I present proof with numbers in the millions that not wearing a mask in a country with 10 million people and the per capita numbers are lower than in countries where masks are forced on people and a country that is trying to force masks. You counter it with numbers in a couple of little counties in Kansas. Another member talks about intelligence and compassion yet there are a number of you who have none of either you only think of yourselves. which as been proven by what you have said about everyone who does not where a mask. You belittle anyone with an opposing opinion that does not belong in your little group. You act like a bunch of school yard bullies. You attack anyone with an opposing opinion just so you can feel better about yourselves. We all know what happens to school yard bullies eventually. This site was a good idea when it first started. I got sick of the garbage that went on here several years ago and evidently many other people did to. I came back to see if anything had changed. It hasn't Anyone who had anything good to say has left obviously. It has a lot of members but no one posts anything except for the chosen. So I am out again. You can sit at the computer and pat yourselves on the back and feel good because the school yard bullies threw someone else up against the fence. You will get yours eventually

Tom, you twat, It is my real name. It is, in whole, Tucker James Buford Bolton. Since the only place I go when I leave my palatial estate is Mal-wart where none of the mouth breathers wear masks. It is a choice. I chose to provide protection for myself and my fellows and yes, I did resort to name calling. Besides, people don't talk about you in front of you, as far as you know.

Tom S. was an especial kind of weirdo ultra right wing freak.

He popped up here playing the very tired wounded conservative card, wah wah, you never respect our views, in response to us making fun of Jerry being a QAnon believer.

I tried to point out that one is free to express conservative beliefs here, but espousing that Democrats are part of a deep state conspiracy with Hollywood celebrities to run a pedophile ring to capture children and suck their brains out to stay young forever is.....well, lunacy.

That Tom S. then doubled down and had a snit and called us all bullies....he's just a special kind of stupid.

Bridger, showing the same degree of suffering of fools that I usually do, tried to point out to him the flaws of his BS post regarding Amorette and that seemed to sent him off over the deep end.

One cannot hold intelligent discourse with such people. I miss the old days of exchanging views with rationale conservatives, instead of Trump loving morons.

I sure do miss Rick Kuchynka. Heck, I miss Daniel K. Allen and the Man From the Snowy Plains. All conservatives who were not off in whacko ville.
