Can you just imagine the horror McConnell is going to ram through the Senate? He'll have some unqualified incompetent seated by the end of next week.

If I had to pick someone to die from cancer, Jerry and his ilk would be far, far higher up the list than RGB.

I'm sure I'll regret asking this.

Jerry, other than women keeping their legs closed, and making abortion illegal, in what ways do you think we can reduce the numbers of abortions in this country? You seem to be very fixated on that one issue.

RBG was a staunch supporter and defender of women's rights. Including the ability to make decisions about their own healthcare. In my opinion, defending Roe vs Wade isn't so much about the ability to get an abortion as it is about women's rights.

(I hesitate to make such assumptions, because I am a male. That's also why I rarely comment on this topic.)

The Repubs need 51 Senators to seat a new judge. The Dems need 4 Repubs to vote to stop the seating of a new judge. Lisa Murkowski(AK),Susan Collins(Maine)and Mitt Romney (Utah)have said they will not vote to seat a judge until after the election. That would throw it into a 50-50 tie and the VP would break the tie. So one more Repub cross-over is needed. Lindsay Graham has said he would not vote to seat a judge but he talks out of both sides of his mouth so I wouldn't count on him. But there are several Repub Senators trying to hang on to their seats. An interesting side fact is that Mark Kelly former astronaut and a Dem is leading in the polls a special election AZ. If he wins he could be seated immediately after the election. Not having to wait until January. Trump and McConnell must think that Trump is not going to be re-elected and they want to seat the judge so bad so quick. If Trump loses the election and he contests it and it could go to the SC to be decided. With the court divided 4-4 would set up an interesting situation. Although Chief Justice Roberts has said don't try to force the SC to do what you can't do politically. What was going to be an interesting fall anyway of watching the talking heads and the election process just got ramped way up by the unfortunate death of a legal giant in Ruth Bader Ginsberg "The Notorious RBG"! May she R.I.P.

The so-called "pro-life" folks -- who usually only care about a fetus, nothing else including the life of the mother -- are unaware that the abortion rate has been falling steadily for years, mostly because of access to better, longer term, contraceptives. But facts don't enter into their arguments so I guess it doesn't matter.

What's more, Tom Regan, is Senator McConnell said that on February 13, 2016, which was a much longer time before Election Day than we are currently faced with. That was nearly a full year before the next president was to be sworn in.

But, Tom, you should have no delusions about what a bunch of hypocrites Mitch McConnell and the Republican Party are. They consistently demonstrate a complete lack of honor and integrity.

It is all over the news that McConnell and Trump said last night and today that they want to seat a new SC Judge before the election in November.

We all knew McConnell only meant when a Democrat is president. The Constitution is to be circumvented when a Democrat is president. The Constitution means nothing to the modern GOP.

Mitt Romney, the only Republican Senator with a spine, said he would vote on Trump's SC nominee. That doesn't mean he would vote to confirm the pick. We'll see I guess.

If the Democrats win the Senate and the Presidency, they need to pack the court with young liberal justices. Nothing in the Constitution says there needs to be 9 justices. Moscow Mitch put us on this road when he removed the filibuster for SC nominees and his anti-Constitutional B.S. blocking Merrick Garland from getting a vote back in 2016.

Thank you Republicans for destroying our democracy and our system of checks and balances.

The size of the Court needs to be increased so I wouldn’t call it packing the Court. The Supreme Court’s case load clearly warrants adding two more justices. In fact the entire federal judiciary needs to be expanded. The number of judges and courtrooms has not kept pace with the population. Federal criminal matters, including corporate fraud and white collar crimes, have severely limited reasonable and timely access to the federal system for civil disputes. We need a younger, smarter Senate to put some young progressive judges into the system.
