Linda,

Is there anyway of knowing if this is really what it seems? And I don't mean that to sound critical of you for posting it.

It's just that there's a lot of propaganda being spread around (on all sides of this issue) nowadays. I'm pretty skeptical anymore more when I see anonymous materials like this. And this appears very similar to some urban myth-type emails I've recently received.

If it is true, my heart goes out to this woman . . . and she has more than earned the right to her opinion.

If it's not true, I wish to heck people would quit making up stuff like this. It's hard enough for us to have sensible discussions about this war without materials like this adding fuel to the flames.

Hal,
It was on Craig's list and I would have no idea if it is or not other than that....I agree about posting propaganda being terrible but on the other hand how on earth do you know which is to be believed....I have seen many former military people interviewed and they seem fairly full of rage....also have seen military people that are totally supportive of the war....How are we, as a democratic society, to tell which is true from all of that....Also the main stream media is terrible for not reporting things that they should because of their corporate influence....would take a much larger brain than mine to figure it all out....

Not to comment on the content of the post, but no, I don't think you can verify it. All you need to post on Craigslist is an email address. It's even more anonymous than this message board because it doesn't show your email address.

Yeah - I agree Linda - a person has to work at it, use some common sense and use their critical thinking skills to try and make sense of the news (on just about any topic).

The internet is both a curse and a blessing when it comes to keep oneself informed. There is now so much information and misinformation being thrown at us, that it's sometimes hard to keep one's balance. But on the whole I'm happy to be blessed by this curse ;-)
- - - - - - - - - -

I guess I'm kind of skeptical of this craiglist thing because it resembles the urban myth emails I mentioned earlier and because I don't usually see Marines refer to themselves as soldiers (sometimes they become rather vehement about that point). But on the other hand, it could well be that I'm being too skeptical in this instance.

no I dont think you are being too critical as I do agree that we have to weigh it all particularly Fox News and their sometimes bent viewpoints....Too bad there arent guidelines to help us...I guess just common sense and a healthy dose of skepticism.....or you could be like this poster.....
