Understanding Trump

In trying to understand Donald Trump, a while back I came to the following conclusion:

He only does what is in his own best interests. Nothing else. 100% of the time. Period.

It is that simple. There is no need to analyze or try to figure him out any further. He has no empathy or compassion or understanding of anything that is not best for him only.

I assume there are psychological terms for someone like that. Perhaps a narcissist? Or a sociopath? Or others? I don't know.

BUT, if you feel I am wrong, tell me ONE THING that Trump has done for anyone else, at any point in time, in any role, that was not ultimately ONLY for his own self interests.

AT LEAST JUST ONE. Go for it.

Unfortunately, neither of those stories are true.

"the military paid to charter a plane from an airline Trump no longer owned in order to bring those service personnel home."

“We’ve heard the story,” said an irritated-sounding assistant of Mr. Trump’s at his New York office. “No, it isn’t true.”

My favorite Trump generosity story is when he skipped a presidential debate to stage a rally and raise 5 million bucks for wounded warriors (or some such charity). He didn't pony up until much later when the Washington Post called him out on his promise.

In reading up on that, it looks like the event brought in 5.6 million. He took 2.8 million. A bunch of shady stuff happened. Then was sued by The State Of New York for illegal conduct.

JANUARY 28, 2016

"After ducking the final Republican presidential debate heading into next week’s Iowa caucuses, GOP front-runner Donald Trump announced that he would hold his own pro-veterans event during the debate to raise money for veterans. Trump even set up a special website to solicit donations to help veterans." ... "There’s only one problem: 100% of the money raised on the site goes directly to Donald Trump’s personal non-profit foundation, according to a disclosure listed at the bottom of the page."

https://thefederalist.com...oundation/

JUNE 14, 2018

"The petition filed today alleges a pattern of persistent illegal conduct, occurring over more than a decade, that includes extensive unlawful political coordination with the Trump presidential campaign, repeated and willful self-dealing transactions to benefit Mr. Trump’s personal and business interests, and violations of basic legal obligations for non-profit foundations. The Attorney General initiated a special proceeding to dissolve the Trump Foundation under court supervision and obtain restitution of $2.8 million and additional penalties."

https://ag.ny.gov/press-r...foundation

NOVEMBER 7, 2019

"A judge ordered President Trump to pay $2 million to a group of charities on Thursday, ruling that the president had broken the law by directing the proceeds from an event advertised as benefiting veterans to his presidential campaign instead."

No he does not. He donates his salary to various federal government agencies.

Excellent quote from Republican Senator Ben Sasse (R-Nebraska)

There is no right to riot, no right to destroy others’ property and no right to throw rocks at police. But there is a fundamental — a constitutional — right to protest, and I’m against clearing out a peaceful protest for a photo op that treats the word of God as a political prop.

Don't you think that they can use a park or something besides the street. A peaceful protest can turn violent really fast. When you driving down the street look for stacked bricks. Because I don't think there build a BBQ pit

Bur you are a racist. That has already been well established by your posts. Unless you decide to go back and delete them, the record had been set.

What remains to be determined is if you are stupid, rich, or a troll. The three remaining prongs of today's Republican party. I am rooting for you to be a troll.

Well for your information I looked upon Obama for you and yes he's not a Muslim. So gunner his dad was my mistake. In stead of going off on your rant you could of found it for me. Some of you are so sensitive . So let that be a lesson. In stead of name calling . Just agree or disagree. Looks like we have away to go but don't you think we can work on it

No, Jerry is definitely not Daniel K. Allen. Although I will let Jerry weigh in if he sports a forked goat beard.

Jerry, Bridger is right. I am not here to do your homework. It is the duty of every citizen in our republic to seek out the truth, weigh the facts, judge the evidence and compare them to their own beliefs, and vote accordingly.

I have voted for many Democrats and Republicans in the past on split ballots. after carefully evaluating their positions. This fall, I already intend to vote for a Republican in our state legislative race, because I abhor the Democrat in the race. But I am 99% certain I will vote the straight democratic ticket for the rest of the ballot because Trump is such a colossal failure as a president. Oh, and the rich guys buying elections needs to be curbed.

The part about the democratic party that when it's mention I think of them supporting abortion. I no that some don't but still the one's that do I honestly think of being baby killers . I no that it's wrong for we to think that but that's how fill. And rich guys in both parties should be curbed.

This is another thing I just don't get. Why old white men care about abortion so vehemently.

As a non-partisan, I side with the Libertarian and Democrats on this one. No way the government should be inserting themselves into difficult decisions that are made by young women and their doctors. This clearly interferes with the pursuit of liberty that our founding fathers seek.

But, what's else is new from the Republicans? Suppressing the liberties of individuals is their game plan. Look at voting rights suppression, for an example.

I have lost all hope in the Republican party. So has many of their members (i.e., Lincoln Project, former Pentagon generals). If you despise the Democrats so much, at least vote for a party that is conservative, wants to limit government, and lower or National Debt.

That would be the Libertarian Party.

Just say no to demagogues.

Abortion is taking a live . The difference between the Nazis and planned parenthood .Hitler didn't have a age limit. You sure that the Democrats not the ones wanting more government. They like to control people's lives. Be for I forgot take a look where planned parenthood have their clinics in mainly the poor parts of cities so why are they.

Isn't abortion worst that capital punishment. There executed what out a crime or jury And yes we have a right to change. When people become a Christian they see that it's wrong. I like that I was created. Not something that slithered up out of the water

Its not about adopting. It's about murder yes there's no reason to debate this let the insistent blood be on your hands. The true hypocrites is the democratic party. They want to get rid of the minorities for years. How their only thing that they want is there votes . The democratic party is all about racism. He is such a douche bag. I would almost feel sorry for him, if he wasn't POTUS,

Read an article recently, that he was ready to fire his son-in-law Jared was on the cover of Time magazine. Apparently, only the Great Orange Moron should grace the cover of Time, not his sycophants.

What a sh$t show. Trying to decipher the illegible posts of Trump supporters like Cnn only confirms that Trump has brainwashed a subculture of imbeciles.

All you long-time posters here....Amorette, Dave, Richard, Bridgier, Hal, Tucker et al......remember when we used to have intelligent conversations with Rick K.? And he would respond in proper English with coherent arguments?

Yes, Gunnar, it does seem challenging to find a calm and rational voice to promote the right's cause.

The Seattle Times called out Fox News today for using digitally altered photos in their coverage of Seattle's "autonomous zone". I know many people who lean right turn to Fox News for their information. It's disheartening to see Fox News engaging in such deception. It's no wonder conservatives are so misinformed.

Seattle Times: Fox News runs digitally altered images in coverage of Seattle’s protests, Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone

I drove through downtown Seattle today to see how things looked. I drove through Georgetown, SODO, Pioneer Square, the Financial District, Belltown, and along the waterfront and didn't see any protestors. There was not an unusual police presence and no barricades. About 25% of businesses (mostly retailers that are closed due to Coronavirus) have boarded their windows as a precaution. Some number of businesses were already doing that even before the George Floyd protests started. Downtown was pretty quiet due to COVID-19 -- sadly quiet for a pleasant summer evening, but it's not under siege by any means.

Now I didn't drive up to Capitol Hill to see the "CHAZ" but mainly because I didn't want to get caught up in traffic around that area which can be very congested even under "normal" circumstances (as normal as Capitol Hill gets).

Trump is not well. His rambling and incoherent pattern of speech, slurring his words, lack of balance, difficulty drinking water, along with his impulsivity and lack of attention to detail and short attention span, or the lack of ability to recall simple facts, all point to some sort of degenerative brain disease. Maybe he has had a stroke, or has early onset dementia. You can find past interviews of Trump where he sounds almost normal. He has declined considerably the last few years. I don't believe people with normal cognitive abilities act like Trump. This type of thing isn't unprecedented. Ronald Reagan was in a similar situation. It's horrifying that Trump has access to nuclear weapons.

New John Bolton book looks to be a good one to help understand Trump. He says every decision Trump makes is made with the calculus of will it help him get re-elected. I believe it. For someone who is not a politician, he seems to crave re-election more than any career politician I can think of.

https://www.nytimes.com/2...sContainer

He thought Finland was part of Russia and didn't know Great Britain was a nuclear power. Imagine that.
