Miles Community College continues to post updates regarding its COVID-19 response to its website at https://www.milescc.edu/Health/default.aspx.
Last week, the MCC Board of Trustees directed the college to transition all in-class instruction, in any instance possible, to online or other remote teaching modalities - this will continue through the end of the semester. All MCC spring athletic programs have cancelled their spring seasons, including practices and competitions. Additionally, based on CDC recommendations to support social distancing, MCC has revised restrictions regarding group and meeting sizes, limiting those to no more than 10 individuals. This has lead to the cancellation of numerous on-campus events, both college-sponsored and otherwise.
The campus does remain open, including student support offices, Centra workout facilities, library, and dining, though dine-in options have ceased and students who remain in the residence halls needing meals are to take food to go. We encourage all employees and community members arriving to campus and using campus facilities to practice social distancing methods.
This is certainly a fluid situation, and things change and are updated every day. We continue to stay in contact with the Custer County Health Department and would respond appropriately under their direction. Members of the campus community and other stakeholders are encouraged to check the website listed above; students and employees are also emailed any updates, and updates are posted to the MCC Facebook page.
