Using Social Security as the example of "socialism" is a fools errand, Hanson. Most people collecting Social Security paid into it, and their employers paid into it, at a cost to the employee who should have received that money as a higher wage. The fact that some people are outliving what they may have paid into it is irrelevant. Millions who paid into it never saw a dime back, if they died before age 62. Millions more who have never stuck a dime into it, receive SSI payments that were never intended in the original plan. Grandma and Grandad may become the recipients of "socialism" when and if they out live their contribution. Even at that, it's probably owed to them because of waste, fraud and incompetency inherent in everything the government does.
Here's the one you should be using. Lets use the VA as an example of "socialism". You may disagree because I'm guessing this is one government service that you use, being a vet. If you don't you're still illegible, unless you managed to get a DD. You may think you "earned" it, and you did by your service. But the fact is, you never paid a dime into it beyond your income tax. All taxpayers are on the hook for the VA. That's "socialism" because people who will never be able to use the service, are made to pay for it.
As for the poll, y'all need to face the fact that Trump isn't going anywhere unless he dies from natural or unnatural causes. You probably missed it because it wasn't on CNN or MSNBC, but +50,000 people showed up to see him.......in (dark blue) Minneapolis. Even more showed up to see Trump in Ft. Worth. Donations are pouring into the GOP coffers ever since Adam Schiff took over the reins of the Party from AOC. That should tell you something about the current status of the Democrat Party and their slate of candidates. The delusion recently floated that the Democrats need Hillary Clinton to run again, to save their 2020 bacon, generated waves of hysterical laughter around here.
Trump is going to run and he is going to win 4 more years. I may even vote for him depending on what I see come out of John Durham's grand jury.
