I assume the peaks on the Methodist Church were removed because they couldn't afford to repair them but it is a bit shocking to see. If you aren't in MC, the peaked roof of the bell tower and the matching side semi-tower were removed recently.

Weird, isn't it? I mean, we'll all get used to the lack of crenellation but it looked so cool.

I would be curious to know the price difference between repairing/bracing the old structure vs. what they wound up doing.

I'm also concerned about what is going to happen to the City Hall Building. I'm about 6 weeks behind on my Stars so there may be news that I haven't read yet. The last I read was one of the city council members had suggested getting an engineering analysis done on the building which seems like a smart thing to do. Is the basement of City Hall used at all anymore? Could they fill in the basement to stabilize the foundation walls and perhaps do some additional work to further support the building?

Someone recently sent me photos of the restored Richland County Court House in Sidney and it is beautiful. It's good to have oil money...

Repairing the church towers would have been more than the church could afford I’m told. The project is still not done. The lift used was ours and it’s on another job now. As a foot note look at the towers on the Presbyterian church at the corner of Montana and main. From the ground it looks worse than the Methodist church as far as damage.
