Burma-Shave signs

I was watching the movie "A River Runs Through It" and it made reference to some new Burma-Shave signs along the highway. I checked out Wikipedia to see the history of the Burma Shave signs and they did indeed start around 1926, the same time as the movie piece. (This movie at first seemed to be a promotional film for Missoula, but on the other hand ended up depicting Missoula as having a lot of drunks.)

But anyway, according to Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/...urma-Shave the signs went up from 1926 to 1963. One of the funnier was probably: Every shaver.....Now can snore....Six more minutes....Than before....By using ...Burma-Shave

I would love to have a set of the signs. It was almost the only entertainment from Miles to Billings.

The Burma Shave signs were a little before my time. The ones I remember well, that were in a similar vein, were the old "Gil's Got It" signs advertising the Gil's Indian Trading Post in Livingston. There would be four in a row, selling agates, moccasins, rattlesnake rattlers, etc., with the last sign saying "Gil's Got It!" When I was a kid, I desperately wanted to go and look at the oddball stuff they had for sale, that my father referred to as "tourist crap". Anyone remember those?

I remember those Gunnar. We eventually checked out Gil's. Your old man was right. Up here in the Flathead there have been some political signs using the old Burma Shave style signage. They are generally not particularly amusing.
