I have already contacted him. Here is what I sent on February 25.
Dear Senator Daines,
I am writing regarding the President’s declaration of emergency that he will use to circumvent Congress and build the border wall.
This action is not constitutional in that there is no real emergency and the president has distorted the statistics of many government agencies regarding numbers of crimes, numbers of illegal border crossings, and the places where these incidents occur. In addition, he will be illegally using the power of eminent domain to deprive U.S. Citizens of their property.
If you allow this to happen, you will be violating your oath of office to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same…”.
No matter how anyone views this situation, it cannot be allowed to proceed just to fulfill a campaign promise made by Donald Trump in order to gather votes. We all know that it was an empty promise because there was no way that Mexico would pay for a wall.
Here is his response
"Dear Mr. Martelle,
Thank you for contacting me concerning President Trump's national emergency declaration regarding the situation on the southern border of the U.S. I value your point of view and appreciate the opportunity to respond.
Consistent with existing laws, I believe the President should do what he can to secure our borders. During my visit to the southern border in early February, I saw firsthand the importance of improving and strengthening our border security. I heard from border patrol agents about the ongoing crisis of illegal drugs coming over our southern border, as well as the need for physical barriers. Methamphetamine from Mexican drug cartels is pouring into Montana, devastating communities and destroying families all across our state. I will continue to fight to uphold the integrity of our nation's laws, protect and secure our borders, and keep Montana's communities safe.
Again, thanks for contacting me. It is my number one priority in the Senate to represent the values and interests of the people of Montana, and your input is very helpful as I do. I invite you to visit my website, www.daines.senate.gov, for updates about activities in Washington that affect our lives in Montana or to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you again in the future.
Sincerely,
Steve Daines
United States Senator

As David said in his post...Party before Country.
Remember this when election time rolls around.
