I urge everyone who believes the Constitution of the United States of America is the law of the land, to call, email, text, social media, whatever, to Senator Daines that Montanans believe in abiding by our Constitution, which explicitly dictates separation of powers, and he should vote YES on the resolution that passed the House of Representatives that President Trump has exceeded his authorities granted by law.

I have already contacted him. Here is what I sent on February 25.

Dear Senator Daines,

I am writing regarding the President’s declaration of emergency that he will use to circumvent Congress and build the border wall.

This action is not constitutional in that there is no real emergency and the president has distorted the statistics of many government agencies regarding numbers of crimes, numbers of illegal border crossings, and the places where these incidents occur. In addition, he will be illegally using the power of eminent domain to deprive U.S. Citizens of their property.

If you allow this to happen, you will be violating your oath of office to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same…”.

No matter how anyone views this situation, it cannot be allowed to proceed just to fulfill a campaign promise made by Donald Trump in order to gather votes. We all know that it was an empty promise because there was no way that Mexico would pay for a wall.

A shout out to the 12 Republican senators who voted for the Constitution of the United States over Agent Orange. Needless to say, Steve Daines wasn't one of them.
