What’s Wrong With the Democrats?

A long read, but it raises points that should be considered.

“To win again, the Democrats don’t need to adopt an alien agenda or back away from policies aimed at racial justice. But their leaders would be well advised to change their rhetorical priorities and more directly address the country’s bastions of gloom. The party has been crushed—not just in the recent presidential election, but in countless down-ballot elections—by its failure to develop a message that can resonate with people beyond the core members of the Obama coalition, and by its unwillingness to blare its hostility to crony capitalism.”

Democrats need to stop being such petty children. If your preferred candidate doesn't win the nomination, don't sulk and stay home. If you have to sully yourself by voting for a less than perfect candidate, SULLY YOUR DAMN SELF. Stop holding Democrats to godlike standards. That's why we are in the this mess. The worst Democrat is usually better than anything the Republicans are putting up.

This is an instructive article, which I hope you all read.

As I have said before, voters vote for candidates who connect with their values, not the factoid of the day. Democrats need to stop being the party of “no” and “resist” and become the party of “how” and “accomplishment”. Progress is defined by forward movement.

Interesting dissection of the Democratic party and the last election. I rather recall that Hillary did win by 3 million votes or so? I recently read that the Democrats will do just fine in the next election if they can get their message on a Bumper Sticker. Not a bad idea in a Gullible era☺ Disclaimer: Just my opinion☺

Hillary didn't "win," she got more of the popular vote, but according to the rules of the game she was playing, that't not necessarily how you win the game. She's supposed to be so smart, she should have known that instead of taking so much for granted.

I wish people would stop beating the Electoral College dead horse. It's not the first time the popular vote didn't elect somebody and it probably won't be the last time. But all the players know the rules going in, or they should.

The next candidates will take to heart the lesson that you have to pay attention to all the states, not just the "urban" ones. It's not rocket science.

You're right, Mike, Trump "won" according to the rules.

However the fact remains that more American voters wanted Hillary Clinton to be their president than Donald Trump. That is a helluva way to "win". Personally, if I "won" that way I would be embarrassed.
