I'm writing a local story to go with Robert Persig's obituary and was wondering if anyone had any anecdotes about the book. I had some Motorcycle pilgrims pass through my office when I was historic preservation office. Anyone know anyone at Riverside Marine and Cycle who remembers meeting pilgrims? Or Persig. Or anything?

My favorite Motorcycle related story; my daughter (at 17, I encouraged her to read the book) was in a group setting job interview when the interviewer asked if anyone could define "quality." She got excited but sadly, no one present had read the book.

Amorette, Try Joe Whalen, Rex Mongold and Bruce Helland if you can get them tied down for a while. They are all perpetual motion.

My experience was unexciting. I read "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' again, after I moved to . It was nice to put a place to the story. I thought it was cool but not literary worthy.

I've been trying. No luck so far with those boys but I have had a few other contacts. I admit I was never able to slog through the book myself but I was surprised to learn our editor didn't even know what it was. I guess he is that much younger than I am.

I took a class from Bob Pirsig when he was in Bozeman. He gave me a signed copy of his book. It was very timely coming right after the Carlos Castaneda books, and Herman Hesse. When everyone was trying to find their zen, and the true meaning of air. He was a nice man and semi-interesting. But as always we didn't want people introducing the world to Montana.

I have the wrong location for Bill's Cycle shop in the paper. I will be writing a correction on Monday. Sorry.
