John Glenn has died at the age of 95. Glenn was one man that had the "right stuff". He the first American to orbit the earth which made him a genuine hero. Previous to that he held the speed record for flying coast to coast in a jet. He was a decorated combat pilot in two wars..WWII and the Korean War. He became a very good US Senator from 74-99. Then at the age of 77 he became an astronaut again flying on a space station mission. He is the last of the original Mercury 7 Astronauts. He was a true american hero.

I was a very little girl of 4 yrs when my younger sister was in the air force hospital in TX. While my mom was visiting my sis, I had to behave and sit in the waiting area and play Barbie dolls ( then you really did behave and not run up and down the hall for you feared your mother's reprimand). This very kind patient in a light blue bathrobe, came and sat down with me and talked to me about Barbies, the hosp, my sister, and gave me a bottle of real coke. This was a grand treat and helped pass the time. I later found out this was the "space man" John Glenn after he fell in his bath tub. He visited with me the next day, too. This time I got some ice cream from him. Such a kind hero to a small bored little girl from a ranch in TX. I never forgot that "space man" and followed his career with pride.

John Glenn was a true gentleman who devoted his life in service to his country. We shall not his kind again.

Annie Glenn is a remarkable person in her own right. They seem to have made one heck of a team.
