“I will give you everything” promises Trump in announcing his energy plan
We'll preserve our natural resources while extracting them as quickly as possible

Yesterday in a press conference and speech in North Dakota, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced what some are terming his energy policy. His announcement was extremely short on specifics, included factual inaccuracies, and in some cases contained obvious internal contradictions. As such, what he said might better be termed "energy aspirations." We'll have to wait for the details to see how these aspirations might eventually lead to policy.

What were those aspirations? There were two related themes in the announcements: extraction is good, and regulations are bad because they tend to limit extraction. So Trump will get rid of a lot of the latter in order to boost the former. But, at the same time, he'll preserve our air, water, and natural resources.

At one point, Trump estimated that "75 percent of our rules and regulations are bad for us." So he'd get rid of most of them: "Any regulation that's outdated, unnecessary, bad for workers, or contrary to the national interest will be scrapped, and scrapped completely." Lest there be any confusion about whose rules were problematic, he went on to accuse the Environmental Protection Agency of using "totalitarian tactics" and accused the Obama administration of blocking extraction.

There's a small problem with that narrative: under the Obama administration, the US has become the world's single largest producer of oil and natural gas. To sustain this criticism, Trump had to find a statistic that sounded bad; he settled on blaming Obama for "the lowest oil rig count," even though that clearly has no relationship to production.

This sort of cognitive dissonance pervaded the speech. Trump promised to make US energy independent and free from international markets yet at the same time promised to approve the Keystone pipeline, which would bring in oil from another country. His promised approval got applause from the crowd in North Dakota even though the Canadian oil would be competing with their own local production.

But he lets us hate brown people and uppity women and people whose god is different than ours and he lets us blame everybody else for our problems and that makes us feel superior to uppity brown people etc.

And, sadly, that is the only reason anyone supports the Trumpet. They are idiots and blame others for their idiocy.

HaHa! Amorette, that's funny. Talk about blaming other people.

You Obamabots still don't understand how you created this, do you?

Blame yourself.

Trump is a perfect example of the unexpected consequences of attempting to create your Socialist Paradise.

Now the Trumpet has announced there is no drought in California and he is going to wave his tiny hands and there will be enough water. He just makes poop up, does't he.

And yes, Oddy, we created this by electing a non-white person and telling the world that you don't have to be white to succeed and that brought the bigots out in force. That part of the equation is very sad. White fear of black men is still outrageous.

I think it was more the performance than the color that spawned this.

Well, why would I support Hillary. She said young people are super predators, and has helped her husband dodge many bullets regarding women sexually harassed in his time as president. She also said of a twelve year old girl that she seeks older men and fantasized. Saying a 12 year old girl wanted her rape is absurd, but Hillary is the champion of women and Trump is the mean old woman hating rapist. Here is an article from 2014 where she defends her words on the child rapist she represented http://www.cbsnews.com/ne...e-suspect/

People say Trump is a mean old misogonist, but his employess (the people he are close to and works with) seem to thing otherwise. https://www.washingtonpos...story.html http://www.foxnews.com/st...onner.html

Something to think about:

"We're going to win. We're going to win so much. We're going to win at trade, we're going to win at the border. We're going to win so much, you're going to be so sick and tired of winning, you're going to come to me and go 'Please, please, we can't win anymore.' You've heard this one. You'll say 'Please, Mr. President, we beg you, sir, we don't want to win anymore. It's too much. It's not fair to everybody else.'" Trump said. "And I'm going to say 'I'm sorry, but we're going to keep winning, winning, winning. We're going to make America great again."

I know you have to be egotistical and narcisstic to run for President, but Trump trumps all. When will he and people realize that being president and running large corporations are 2 entirely different things. As president, I am not a Hillary fan either, when he says jump congress and the US population are not going to ask, "How high." He has promised so much to so many different factions there is no way he can keep them. He has insulted or demeaned just about every segment of society. can't wait until he finds out how many real followers he has. I've been voting since Carter vs Ford. The only winners I've picked have been Clinton and Obama. I voted for John Anderson in the early eighties. Obama is the only time I've voted for a candidate instead of against one.
