Remain silent!
Posted by TiredofBS (+286) 7 years ago
There seem to be many that pontificate, in these forums, who have "Way too much" time on their hands. This enables them to surf the net, download and post links, and portray themselves as pseudo-intellectuals when their only true intent is to demean, ridicule, and slander the object of their scorn in the interest of making themselves seem superior to others and boost their own ego. Rather than attempt to "Throw someone under the bus", so to speak, why don't you explain and prove why you are right and better? Or is that actually not possible? In the political arena it's easy to say what you feel is wrong with a candidate. Why not state what you know is right with the one you support? Is your's so bad that this isn't possible or is it simply easier to
"slam" someone else? Our politicians say they are more important and worth more pay than we, the ones that pay them, are but they act so childish, bullish, and dishonestly that I think a high schooler could do a much better job.
Now that I've violated my #1 principle which is "It's better to remain silent an be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt" I will close and allow all to correct my grammar, spelling and explain to me why I'm wrong. Please feel free.

Okay. I support Donald Trump on the Republican side, and Hillary Clinton on the Democrat side. Some people might say, WHAT? But, I look at it like the NFL. I have an NFC team (Philadelphia Eagles), and an AFC team (Buffalo Bills). Unlike the NFL, where my teams are perennial losers, I am pleasantly surprised that my two candidates are front runners. It may be difficult for me to chose in November.

I like Trump because he speaks his mind and cuts the crap. He doesn't dish out the usual Republican malarkey of "I'm the most conservative!" He supports a single payer health care system and Planned Parenthood.

I like Hillary as I think she is the one person most likely to carry on President Obama's policies. Yes, I would vote for Obama for a third term over everyone.

So there you have it. Positive comments!

I happen to believe that many posters here are actual intellectuals, with a good educational background, intelligence and an inquiring mind.

I have been taking anti-depressants for years so I suppose that means I am "mentally ill" and mocking me is socially acceptable. I am not disabled but there are people who are and who are forced to depend on government assistance and they are there just to be "mocked."

Must be nice to be so healthy and perfect you can make fun of anyone who isn't perfectly healthy. I am too compassionate and empathic to do it myself, but lucky you.

I find it difficult to do what TiredofBS asks of me because even when I present my views in a cogent, calm, and respectful manner, the responses I get are full of vitriol and the crazy. When that happens, I no longer feel the need to remain pleasant or respectful. I suspect many others here feel the same.

And my grammar addiction is beyond my control. I have already apologized for it. To avoid my wrath put some effort into your writing. (I'm not directing this at TiredofBS).

Greetings again my fondest friend ZZZzzz!

Your passion on these topics does you great credit but I must ask you to carefully consider the pain that your words must cause our wise companion TiredOfBS. I fear that either he (and forgive my patriarchal assumption should he be more rightly described as she) or Sunny would have to bring the gentlest of rebukes to bear upon your comments, lest their own words become as a petard for them, pinning them in place by their own iron logic.

As I have mentioned elsewhere, I care for nothing but to maintain a certain standard of pellucid conversation, lest we drive away those who could not bear to see their spirits bruised upon the rocky ground of fractious opinion.

Those who are on medication for mental illness are not who you should be concerned about as they have taken responsibility for their issues. It's those who are not recieving treatment that should cause concern.

I would like to thank those that understood that my post was about "Respect". Respect for another's intelligence, point of view, ideals, political leanings, sex, sexual orientation, egocentricities, differences or frailties of any kind, etc... The idea behind a forum is to enable a "mutually respectful discourse" of thoughts and ideas. When certain individuals begin to belittle and abuse others through innuendo or outright condemnation there is only control and no longer free speech. In such an instance the demeaned is most likely to respond with silence. This simply "enables" the "Bully" and escalates the abuse. In such a situation the "Bully" has control of the interaction and feels empowered to inflict further emotional abuse and trauma on those that don't respond or that the egomaniac, (see "Bully"), feels are inferior, (ie. everyone). To say there are intelligent, friendly, polite, and respectful people that respond to and post new ideas in this forum is a given. For crying out loud we are, mostly, Montanans. I have to question where the others are from (California?). Remember respect, respect, respect!

TiredofBS, I gave you a like but I think the comment about where folks are from is odd. Nearly all the folks here were residents of Miles City at one time or another. If we've moved to other places, it doesn't mean we've become basement-dwelling trolls.

Wendy, you're quite right. I meant it as a state of mind more than a geographic location. I didn't mean to slander anyone.

If I follow your thinking correctly, dearest TiredOfBS, the words we write here should be the thick brown nub at the end of a pendulous milky reservoir, delivering a soporific meal to lull one another back to gentle repose.

If there should be discord, if, for example, someone suggests that perhaps the races would be better off if kept separate (most certainly equal, but definitely separate), or that the best way to make our nation great again is to first round up the ragheads, why, we should tailor our responses to be as a soft warm binky, wiping away those unsightly dribbles of stultifying inanity.

I believe I have stated my position quite clearly. At the risk of causing "undue pain" I would like to thank Bridger for so eloquently substantiating my thoughts. Please accept my sincere gratitude for you have "truly" proven how easy it is for someone to "Remove all doubt"!!!!
